CCforDC 0 Posted June 5, 2009 I had heard this rumor and already planned to go. So I am going! Shocker right? I think I am skipping out on Musikfest though and replacing it with this show. I won't be able to get 3 days off all in a week of each other and I have the Deleware show on the 27th. Plus, there is nothing but crap seats for Musikfest anyway. dc_cookie82 0 Posted June 5, 2009 well im still on vaca til mid august..lol so... haha tricked u ..i know u thought id say im going. but im not. i promised myself no more east coast shows and im sticking to it!

CCforDC 0 Posted June 5, 2009 And we get fancy 5-star digs at this show. No camping out in a dirty alley way. No camping out at all. Just climate controlled 5-star luxury. So looking forward to it after the last batch of shows I did.
realiTVlover 0 Posted June 5, 2009 I'm most looking forward to it presumably being ASSIGNED SEATS. Room to breathe! No waiting in the rain for hours! No line drama! We can sit down while waiting for DWEEB to take the stage! We can go to the bathroom or buy a drink and our spot will be waiting for us!
Nicole1 0 Posted June 5, 2009 I wish I could go to this show, we'll see.

And it's in a nice venue with gambling, and places to eat and we don't have to waste the whole day and be sweaty hot messes. Even though VB was GA, having the tickets assignments was awesome. Plus we had seats and could come and go once we marked our chair with our butts. I got to sit and be barefoot at a David Cook show and not fear getting skabbies. It rocked. chealion313 0 Posted June 5, 2009 And yet another show I have to miss because I already have RL plans...
realiTVlover 0 Posted June 5, 2009 Bummer, Carol. But on the bright side, you HAVE RL plans - not everyone has a RL!
Guest Guest Posted June 5, 2009 I'm seriously thinking about this one. I could fly in for the weekend, if I can get a good airfare.

roxybella 0 Posted June 7, 2009 The other thing that is bumming me out because there might be a NYC date and I have a wedding on July 31st the day before this date. How horrible I will be missing 2 dates in my area. So stupid! I missed the NYU show and probably the NYC date that is tentative of course.

roxybella 0 Posted June 7, 2009 People were saying there would be a date in NYC at a small GA venue. Some have said Nokia theater.
Guest Guest Posted June 7, 2009 Thanks-just wondering! Maybe they will wander south from there!!
cherryblossom 0 Posted June 7, 2009 If there's a date in New York City I could take the train. Driving to Connecticut from the DC area is a nightmare. Then again, a GA venue in NYC -- in line all day in the city in AUGUST -- augh. For David, I'll do it. I lived through both shows in New England and the line at Cat's Cradle. but man. roxybella 0 Posted June 7, 2009 Well this is a 5 star casino. I do have a connection to this place through one of my sorority sisters. I must contact her see if she can get first dibs or something. I really do need to see her this might be a good opportunity. She is a dealer at the MGM grand.
musicteach83 0 Posted June 7, 2009 Finally! A show in my area that I know about before it's happening that I can actually make it to!!! This thread just made my day. Although, I'm probably going to have issues getting tickets since I will be waiting in line for Idol auditions that day.... hm.. that might be a slight setback! realiTVlover 0 Posted June 7, 2009 You're auditioning? Best of luck!

Is that you in your AVI at the Idol experience. How did that go? And best of luck to you for the auditioning. It would be nice for people that have not seen David yet go to a show like this. It is a very comfortable setting unlike GA shows.
Jul 0 Posted June 7, 2009 That's so awesome, auditioning for Idol!! Good luck!! I'd love to go back to CT, but there would have to be other shows around the area for the trip to be worth it.
roxybella 0 Posted June 8, 2009 Jul, there is rumor of NYC. And there is Musikfest in PA on Aug3 so there might be 3 shows in this time slot.
MoonPenny 0 Posted June 9, 2009 Did you all read the description under his 'Artist Details' on the MGM Grand event listings?: Millions of people around the country fell in love with rock belter David Cook while watching him make other people’s songs his own week after week on the seventh season of American Idol. Cook won the competition handily thanks to viewers connecting with his rich, unfettered voice and passionately intense performances, not to mention his down-to-earth Midwestern charm. Now, with the release of his self-titled major-label debut, this gifted 25-year-old is eager to show those fans what he can do when he’s in the driver’s seat. Awwwww.... Although... what is it about this line that I love so much?: this gifted 25-year-old is eager to show those fans what he can do when he’s in the driver’s seat Is it just me or does it sound kinda dirty?! realiTVlover 0 Posted June 9, 2009 :rolfol: Now that you point it out, it could be dirty, lol!
realiTVlover 0 Posted June 10, 2009 Some images of the theater seating:
ReallyCookin 0 Posted June 10, 2009 It's a big one!
CCforDC 0 Posted June 10, 2009 Wow now that is spiffy looking. Hmm climate controled, cushioned seats, clean floors, no fear of contracting a disease, a distinct lack of beer and pee smell.... Ok something is freaky in the David Cook universe because this is not the typical ghetto.
ReallyCookin 0 Posted June 10, 2009 although, I must say... the carpet's pretty fugly.
CCforDC 0 Posted June 10, 2009 I agree. But your feet don't stick to it when you walk.
roxybella 0 Posted June 10, 2009 Wow that is just as gorgeous as the opera house in Macon! Me liking the climate control and no stale beer smell. Those dive bars brought back too many memories of Frat houses and mixers! And I must get in touch with my sorority sister to try to get high roller seats! We'll see what happens!
ReallyCookin 0 Posted June 10, 2009 Yeah, but those dive bars and ghetto college campuses will provide some of the most memorable moments for us I bet. In a couple years, we'll be sitting together at the Garden going... wow... remember when we could actually see him from our seats? Remember when we were crammed in like sardines and we though we had a horrible spot if we were more than 8 feet away from him? Remember when we went to BCC and the whole campus smelled like cow shit, but he still dressed up for us? Now look... you can't even see the stage! There will come a time soon I imagine, where we will want the ghetto tour and all of it's bad weather, scary hotel rooms, and ghetto venues back. We'll want to trade in his tractor trailers full of equipment for the humble penske, and we'll wonder, what ever happened to the aluminum thunder as we stare at 4 or 5 matching, brand new buses. Yup. Ghetto tour=best tour ever.
roxybella 0 Posted June 10, 2009 Omg you're little recap of the "best tour ever" makes me all teary eyed. But this is a nice step up for him. Well I can brag that I saw him for $5 but when we do see him at the Garden. We'll be like WTF? David $100 face value you're killing us!
ReallyCookin 0 Posted June 10, 2009 That's why I'm doing as many shows as possible while it's still cheap. If he opens for a bigger act, or co headlines an arena tour or something, we're screwed.
CCforDC 0 Posted June 10, 2009 Yeah, I will certainly miss the ghetto tour. Sure the venues smell bad, and sure you are not sure exactly what body part of the person next you is stuck to your arm, and yes, there has been tornados and blizzards and bugs that won't die. But I know when it's over I will miss it.
ReallyCookin 0 Posted June 10, 2009 bugs that won't die!!! LMAO!!!! Bwahaha! Yeah... I'm serously going to miss all the frustrating bits of this tour. We take it for granted and complain about it... but I've never had so much fun in all my life!
Guest Guest Posted June 10, 2009 I totally agree. The ghetto tour has been... well, ghetto, but it's had some amazing moments. I know I'll miss it when it's gone. My son said to me a couple of weeks ago, "Mom, do you know how lucky you are?" and I said, "Why?" He said, "You have an artist you like and you are there at the beginning. You can go see him perform up close in small venues for like $20. You can go to multiple shows and get right up front. In a couple of years, you'll probably have to pay for one show what you are now paying for five or six... and that will be for a seat way back from the stage. You're getting an awesome opportunity, and I'm glad you're taking advantage of it." My husband was sitting there and agreed with him. He said that if there was a time machine, he can think of several groups he'd love to go back and hear before they made it big, when they were still playing little dive bars and small shows. I hadn't really thought about it until then, but it hit me then how lucky we all are. And it was nice to have a few minutes where my family was just enjoying it for me.
