Where have you heard David's songs played?

Recommended Posts

Most of us have heard LO & CBTM (& Magic Rainbow ) on the radio. But have you heard any of David's songs anywhere else?

Today I heard "Permanent" on the music track in... IKEA! I was like, "No way!!!" I had to drop my shopping bag and just stand there with my eyes closed, mouthing along the words to the song, surrounded by sofas and people looking at me like I'm drunken for standing there transfixed like that.

I've also heard CBTM at Ranch Chicken where I often get lunch.
And today my mom heard LO in the supermarket.
I have tons of others, but I want to hear YOUR surprising David encounters:

Where have you heard David's magical voice appear unexpectedly?

This week I heard CBTM and then two songs later GRO's Come On while at a restaurant for lunch. It's the place where my daughter works and she said they play Sirius Pulse or something like that. Tonight at the grocery store I heard LO. Before it played there was a station ID announcement that said "This is (oh damn I forget the station call letters) playing music to escape with. They have no idea how true those words are!!

But my ultimate "Oh that's David I hear" moment came during Idol tour. A bunch of us(Hi Stacy Hi!) were standing by the elevators in the hotel and TOML started playing. We were there to see the Idol show at Boardwalk Hall. We all just stood there sort of staring at the ceiling with looks of adoration on our faces.

I was hoping someone would post our Magic Rainbow moment in AC!

A few days earlier than that, I had a few Word Nerds at my apartment and we were going to head to Newark for the 2 shows there. I went to get my car parked a few blocks away and pick them and their bags up at the curb. I turned the radio on and there it was - magic rainbows played JUST as we were getting in the car to go to our very first DC show. HeartMagic RainbowHeart That was the day I gave David the first S&S book too!

In Walmart I saw his little Soundcheck thingy.. IDK if that counts. LOL But iT was funny. All of a sudden I hear "Hey guys this is David Cook" or something liek that and I basically spazz out and start looking around to see where it was coming from. LOL Then I saw a TV screen and i was liek " OMG!! DAVID!" and I refused to move from that spot until it was over. LOL flag Yes, I get excited whenever I see/hear anything David-related.

CBTM at Foot Locker, Applebee's and many other places.

Light On in downtown Disney last December and Applebee's

Magic Rainbows at the grocery store, Applebee's and of all places... home depot

Permanent at the mall, mall wide... I was in the bathroom and RAN out to scream at my husband, "Do you hear this???" People imediately looked at me like I was nuts.

bottom line... Applebee's loves Dave... and apparently, I love Applebee's...lol

Oh believe me, I know.

I do that all the time when I get his tweets sent to my phone. It happens a lot in school. I'm trying to be discreet and check my phone and then I see he tweeted something cute and I look up with this huge smile on my face. One time when that happened, the kid sitting next to me asked why I was smiling and I was like "Daaaavvvve" and they were like

They used to play the LO video in my target on the big screens and I would just stand there with a dorky smile on my face for the entirety of the video.
I heard CBTM at the dentists and I think the doctors.
My favorite teacher of all time set up a slide show last year for our graduation and she put TOML in it as the the closing song. I had every kid in the grade looking at me when that started playing. LOL Face
I'm with Jenna, getting his cute tweets during school really makes you look like an idiot. But its so worth it.

Hm...I heard Light On on the bus for a field trip last year. I heard TOML in FYE, and I think that's it. :/

And I totally agree about getting cute tweets on my phone during school; I look like such an idiot, especially in my classes where they're mainly older kids and they have no idea about David. xD

Along with all the regular places I've heard TOML, LO and CBTM, I would have to say hearing LO as the 'last slow song of the night' in a club was AWESOME!! Great

LO: On the radio. On the mall. There I was standing like an idiot in front of the speaker singing it and everybody... . Hometown Buffet and on my school cafeteria.

CBTM: Radio, Target (video) . On that moment, when David kissed the Disturbia girl I squealed Please David not that skinny! and the cashier again..

Magic Rainbows: Again radio. Sea World during Shamu main show, I was more enthusiatic to hear the song than seeing that whale lol!! and on the movie theater.
(first time ever I listened it and didnt know it was him) weird, huh?

Barbasol: On a music store.

I've heard Light On, CBTM, and TOML at the mall and in a few other stores and restaurants.

My favorite Magic Rainbow story took place this past November. We went to the show in Elizabeth, Indiana, and for most of us in our little travel group, it was our last show. After the show, we spent some time gambling in the casino, and as we were walking back through the walkway that connects the casino and the hotel at 3 am, we suddenly all stopped and looked up... because we were hearing TOML from the overhead speakers. And while we're all (including Dave) pretty much over the magic rainbow song, it brought tears to our eyes... because we did have the time of our lives traveling to our many shows this past year. So it was a really fitting way to end the evening and our Declaration Tour roadtrips.

I remember that one Stacy. You drove up to the curb and TOML was there to greet us. We all freaked just a little.

David's songs have been on dance shows too, right? Anyone remember which songs on which shows? Maybe want to embed a video or two in here?

It was so exciting, cause I'd never heard David on the radio (at least in he car) EVER until then.

I was at a New Years party last night with my moms work friends and LO and TOML got played one after the other. It was played intentionally for me but it was still exciting. Well, that was before I took over the music and stopped playing the boring stuff. lol

Ok my random Dave moment...

Since things have been kinda quiet here I've been catching up on my other obsession-Bones. I was looking around youtube yesterday and came across a fan video set to David's version of ABMB. I kinda freaked. A non-WN using David as a background song?? Too cool.
Not to mention David Cook AND David Boreanaz-that's almost TMTH

This morning I popped into a Noah's Bagels for a snack with my three year old and the music was quite loud, it was some cheezy song I forget what, and I thought "oh if only I could hear a David song blared in Noah's Bagles" and the very next song was Permanent!!!!!!!!! So I was shocked, excited and sad all at once. Plus a little embarrassed because my son of course screamed "DAVID COOK!" at the top of his lungs.

Permanent is not a single but it has apparently made its way onto a lot of stores music tapes. I know everyone is going to laugh when I say "Muzac" but the Muzac company actually supplies music to most retail establishments in the US, and it's no longer soft instrumental versions of well-known songs as it used to be, it's real music that you hear in the background (or foreground - some are more "loud" type of music, and cranked up) of almost all retail stores. It used to be cassette tapes and your store would get a new one that was like 4 hours long, every other month. Then I think it became CD's and now it's satellite commercial-free radio I believe.

So... I'm thinking someone at the Muzac headquarters is a David Cook fan, and decided Permanent would go well in a lot of stores, or on a few of the Muzac channels, or however it's done now. Thanks, Muzac, for getting David's music out there! To popular stores, instead of instrumentalized in elevators. LOL Face

I hear either TOML, CBTM, or LO everytime I go to the mall. And sometimes I'll have this uncanny intuition to change the radio station...and one of the three is playing (or comes on next) on the station I changed to. Weird. LoL.

I did hear Permanent in a store recently, and I remember being stunned by it. But I can't remember when or where it was... it might have been over Christmas. scratch

Yesterday, my boss borrowed his wife's cellphone, and when he receive a call, the ringing tone is IDWMAT and I was screaming out loud saying it was David Cook's version!

As I was on a stretcher the other night, riding up the elevator in the hospital, feeling possibly the worst I ever have in my entire life, I heard I Did It For You blasting through the speakers of the elevator. First, I'm pretty sure I smacked myself. Sicknesses can cause reactions like that, you know. I thought maybe I was developing a sense of schizophrenia or something of the such. But sure enough...It was really happening. So I screamed, and everyone asked me what was wrong. I said I'd never heard that song played anywhere in public...ever. They all scratched their heads a bit and were silent until one of the nurses turned to me and said "I've never heard that song anywhere at all...ever. But I like it. I like it a lot." Possibly the greatest moment of my life, just causa the awkward.

LOL, screaming while in the hospital probably isn't the best idea, Kateland.

Maybe the nurse will be cookified though. Wink
