Me too? Pretty please?

Of course! Just not the one I already took for myself, lol.

Though I might change mine later when Barbs puts her pics up. She's got a shot of David but I was up front clapping over my head (Declaration, probably), so it's like he's framed between my arms, which is just kinda cool. Smile

David looked friggen' amazing. I love his new hair, and the outfit, but that wasn't it - he was... glowing. He does that sometimes. He really was glowing last night. He seemed so relaxed and so happy to be there... having the time of his life (no pun intended, LOL!) My only complaint about the show (other than nasty security) was that it was too short. I mean, it always seems too short because you always want to hear him sing forever and ever. But this show was nearly $70 for the front sections, and there was no opening act, and David has been working out enough that he should have the stamina to sing more than 11 songs now. But mostly I'm just glad I got to hear those 11 songs, and Carly's - that was cool.

Tons of videos of the songs are up, so no need to recap that, but I thought I'd give my personal perspective on one of the banters. First, a little background. By a minor miracle, I ended up in the front row section C with my new friend (a friend's traveling companion). Next to us were these 2 attractive, young (early 20s), skantily-clad girls. They were very cute, giggly, and jiggly. The nearer one had long blond hair and was wearing a paper-thin satin halter top that made it crystal clear that she was not wearing a bra, and it was a little cold. They both had bare legs and mini-skirts that I swear were shorter than David's fanbase. David kept checking them out the whole night. He couldn't take his eyes off them.

Anyway, there was this banter he started, where he said there were some familiar faces in the audience but he wondered if any were there seeing him for the first time. Well the half-naked blond started pointing at the half-naked brunette and David, like, RAN over to them to banter directly with them. The banter was funny - likening the way the one pointed at the other like she was calling her out for farting or something, but to me, the funniest thing was how he came running over like a puppy the moment he had an excuse to talk to them. I wonder if he got their numbers after the show, lol.

Stacy, glad you were able to finally get a flight out there!

I know what you mean about the length of the concert, it seems like David should have slightly longer sets when he's at the casino shows where the ticket prices are more plus he had no opening act. That is definitely one gripe I've had.

I can't say I'm surprised about his reaction to the scantily clad girls in the front row, men are so predictable. ROFLOL

Stacy, can I use one of your pics as my avi? They are amazing. Also thanks for the recap. lmao at the two girls. Love it. Love his reaction. Just like any other guy. He really is a contrast. Isn't he?

Loved the recap. I've been kinda waiting for it all day. lol. Ask Peggy. I told her on the phone today. I wonder where Stacy is. I want to read her recap. lol

I'm so glad you had a good time. God I want a show so bad it physically hurts. He looked and sounded amazing. He seemed so happy.

Oh and I know what you mean about sometimes he glows. Because he does! It's like his face radiates light or something.

Sure, Viv, go for it! Just check to see if it's one someone else already nabbed. Now I feel bad I stoped taking pictures after 2 songs. I was just too into the show. Embarassed Sorry. But there are lots of other great pictures - I'm still making my way through Eve's, slowly, savoring them like a fine wine.

And I was traveling all day, lol.

As for glowing, it's something I can't put my finger on, really. The first time I ever saw him in person, he was REALLY glowing - it was just after he won Idol, at the Today show. I don't know how to describe it other than that he seems fully present within himself, and happy to be him at that moment, and loving his fans. And it translates to him seeming... glowy. For a word nerd, I'm not coming up with good words for it, lol.

Thanks Stacy. I think I'll check out Eve's pics too. Since I suck at photography, I rely on everyone else. But the pic I now have as my Avi I feel guilty about using, because I have no idea who's it is.

The first time I noticed the glow was at the CD release party. His whole face just was full of joy and light. It was weird. It sort of took me aback for a second. Then I looked into his eyes and forgot my own name.

I am looking forward to that day soooooooooooo much when his new cd is released. I wonder if he will celebrate with us again, or if he will do more of a industry type party, which can be beneficial too. I think were better though. hee hee.

OK I'm only on page 4 and have only watched 2 videos so far...but I HAVE to say this...his ass looks AMAZING. Pretty sure during Barracuda, I paused the video and just stared at his ass. I just want to pinch it...or squeeze it...or bite it...and not necessarliy in that order. And the last 40 seconds of that video...OMG. If I was a dude, I wouldn't be able to stand up right now. Just sayin.

omg I typed a really long recap and then somehow got logged out. And lost it all. Tantrum I've never had that happen before. Shit. What a bad time for it.

Anyway, I had a great time once I finally got there. After my epic journey, following the journey of course to the concert that didn't happen in December, I was only there for 12 hours. 2 hours at the beginning and 2 at the end of which I was napping. So I didn't get to meet everyone I wanted to, and didn't get enough time with the people I did get some time with, but I'm just glad to have gotten the time I did.

I wonder if he got their numbers after the show, lol.

So I was REALLY happy to get to hear Make Believe live, even if he did totally mess up the lyrics at the beginning of the second verse, lol. And NEW SONG! NEW SONG! NEW SONG! I liked it, but I need to listen another half dozen times for me to make a more solid opinion. Wish there had been at least one song without a guitar but I fear the days of him not hiding his body behind one the entire shows are gone for good. Goodbye, David's body, and mic/micstand action - I miss you!

Pictures to follow in a sec...
LOL if they would have let us stay up there. Dave's wouldn't had to have seen that. LOL

OK, so I have a habit of taking pictures on my phone of the fabulous pictures I find here to use as wallpaper for my phone (hope that doesn't offend anyone...I NEVER post them anywhere else)...so, anyway, I took a pic of this, and the way my phone is, if it's not exactly centered, it doesn't work...so the only thing that showed up on my screen was the neck of the guitar...and his arm...and the two fingers....I can't bring myself to trade the pic now. GUH!!!!

OK guess I will recap. LONG to make up for no pix/vids.

Preliminaries: I flew into Ontario airport early afternoon and drove about an hour to my hotel in Banning (about 10 minutes from Morongo) in that freaky downpour. It was so bad my clothes got wet inside my suitcase from when they were transferred from the plane! Luckily had time to hang them to dry before driving to casino. Got to casino and met up with Jane and Michelle and some of Jane's SoCal pals for a great dinner. Ran into Stacy and Barb on way out of Casino to the mile long walkway, such a treat to meet WNH royalty and Stacy looked fetching and none the worse for wear after her cross country ordeal! It was also great to meet Ashley after the show. Jane, Michelle and I got to our seats just a few minutes before showtime. I never got it into my head that the tent was climate controlled so I had a sweatshirt and jacket over my t-shirt that I quickly got rid of 'cause it was hot in there! We immediately discovered that our front row, top tier priced seats sucked, were way over to the side, about 20 feet past Andy, almost to the end of the entire row. There was a large scaffold thing obstructing the view also that became more of an issue later. Basically I could see Andy by leaning one way and David by leaning another, Monty moved in and out of ‘frame,” Neal was a speck in the distance and I could not see Kyle at all. Frustratingly, The middle section that was not ever available to us plebeians was full of holes, about 1/4 seats empty at showtime I estimated. But it was all good, because the scuttle had been we could move up to the stage, and we were perfectly positioned to do that.

Security meanies: So the first wave of move ups happened prior to the show, everyone found a position, there was lots of room in front of the stage, which was very high-eye level on me and I am 5-7. From my vantage point it was the most mellow "stage rush" in the history of rock and roll, everyone behaving, very little pushing and only of the inadvertent variety. But we were sent back to our seats & told show would not start until we were SITTING in our seats. OK, now I know what my Kindergartner goes through every day. May be time to homeschool!

So next "rush" happens as band comes out and lights go down. Again, from where I was, it was mellow, respectful, peaceful. Lots of excitement but no BS. But at end of IDIFY, security starts telling us to go back to our seats. So, we ignored them. I mean, they could not be serious- right? The show was going on, David was talking, another song was beginning-the situation at the stage was mellow, no way were they really going to make us...Oh yes, they did. The yellow shirted "event" people were reinforced by big security fellows who seemed to be under the impression another Altamont was brewing.

Now, I want to make it clear that I am a big safety first person, I think concert security should be respected and I am not for mouthing off at people who are only doing their jobs. But imo the situation in no way warranted the response. It was just plain weird how adamant they were. But, whatever. We went back to our seats, where of course we stood (everyone around us was standing) and tried to jocky ourselves around so we were not obstructed by the giant scaffold. So here we are-standing in front of OUR sucky seats, not in a position envied by anyone, and the security was still hanging around and glaring at us for moving the few inches needed in order to SEE THE SHOW! They kept asking to see our tickets-I just took mine out and held it out in my hand for the rest of the time basically.

The AWESOMENESS of this show:

Despite these continuous upsetting annoyances and distractions, it was an incredible show. I agree with Stacy-David was glowing. He was on fire. He just looked so happy and pleased to be back. His energy filled the room. He was also very cute, and I know that sounds weird and I know you are all saying “isn’t he always?” and all I can say is I actually have never really found David all that “cute” like that. And there really is no other way to describe him last night-just absofuckinglutelyadorable. And of course being there for fun stuff like the Cook Brothers Comedy Show and Carly was such a treat.
And another man is Cookified! I had a very cool interaction with a sweet couple who were standing near us for a while until they were banished by the big security meanies. They looked to be 20-ish. Anyway, the guy turns to me at one point with a huge surprised grin and says “He’s really GOOD, isn’t he!” He was more into the show than the girl was I think. It was soooo cute.

Strangely I thought the concert seemed long! I was surprised to realize it was just 11 songs. Declaration alone seemed to go on forever (in a good way.) Of course I wished it was longer but still, I felt more sated than usual after a show. Oh, and I thought Lie was especially good, beautiful raspy vocals and he did something a little bit different I think? Brain not functioning at this point.

I really liked the new song A LOT. I loved that he put it at the very end rather than in the middle somewhere. That kind of goes with his whole “progression” thing we recall so fondly from the AI final. Yeah, DCTR was then, this is the future….*sigh*

Oh and at the end David hung around for a while on stage throwing out pics, none our way of course! But it was so fun, like he did not want to leave.

All in all a great experience and like an oasis in the desert. Thank you David and the Anthemic!

More from David Cook's Morongo gig
By
Vanessa Franko
on March 1, 2010 10:31 AM

While I was at the Adam Lambert show on Saturday night at Fantasy Springs, my fellow reporter and awesome Momarama blogger Jen Dean got to see David Cook.

She reports that he sang pretty much everything off his album, plus two new songs that haven't been recorded yet, "Make Believe" and "You and I." (Cook told me in an interview last week that at least one new song was going to make it.)
Robert A. Whitehead/Special to The Press-Enterprise
David Cook performs at Morongo Casino, Resort and Spa on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010.

From Jen:
"He brought his younger brother out on stage at one point for the "legal-aged, single ladies out there." His brother was funny too. Fellow Idol alumnus Carly Smithson of We Are the Fallen came out and sang 'Barracuda.' She was great."

Jen had a blast and is a Cook believer now. Here's her story from Saturday (photo gallery inside), but she also offered up some more notes from the Cook concert.

Lisa Ward, of Temecula, saw him New Year's Eve at Pechanga and loved him.
"He's so talented and very good live."

She came to the show with first-timer Katrina Howell of El Cajon.

Scott Peek, dad of Kyle Peek, Cook's drummer, drove from La Mirada for the show and offered up some information about when Kyle started playing.

"I was the manager of Kyle's band. They won the best group in the county. We played The Grove. He's been playing with David for about a year and a half. He's been playing since he was 7. We know Taylor Hawkins from the Foo Fighters, he took a liking to him after hearing him play. So he said to get to the Malibu Inn and we snuck in. He's been playing since."

I think Jennie and Donald Bigbie of Riverside get the most dedicated fans award for the night.

"We were at the Pechanga show on the 30th. I love his voice," Jennie said. "I woke up with atrial fibrillation this morning and we spent six hours in the emergency room. I kept telling them, 'You have to get me out of here so I can see David Cook tonight.'"

"My 4-year-old loves him. She sings his song all the time," Donald said.

And Maddy Olivia of Santa Clarita had some nice things to say about Cook and the fans.

"We got to meet him in Pechanga. He has very loyal fans and he's really good to them. He has an eclectic group of fans, from teenyboppers to the older crowd," she said.

Now go check out Jen's awesome Momarama blog!
