Forgive me for the double post but I'm kinda wigging out in a good way about "Here I Go Again." Because it brings to mind his Hot for Teacher performances which were so smoking hot. And a lot of the reason they were so hot was because he wasn't hiding behind that damned guitar for that song and ran around and climbed shit and stuff... This is a GREAT song to free himself of the guitar and really strut his stuff and emote with his body... I'm just imagining it!

ETA: Don't worry, I don't have my hopes up for even a single song on the whole damn tour sans guitar. I know it's just wishful thinking. But FUN wishful thinking.

And now to be really annoying and triple-post, it seems a fine time to bring up something about this tour: this whole policy of his of fairly openly accepting u-streams and other videos of his performances, I love. But I also love, maybe even love a little more, that he is not allowing recordings of the soundchecks.

The soundcheck is what tipped the balance in favor of me buying the VIP thing for my show on this tour. You see, I've already met him more than once and while I thoroughly enjoy almost every encounter I've had with him (that and it allows me to provide you all with entertainment and the opportunity for me to laugh with you all at myself lol)... if this were just a M&G, I wouldn't have bought the package. Because I've met him. And I like for people who haven't met him to have the opportunity, and for him to get to meet new people instead of him being stuck a minute with me yet again. But in addition to the friend I agreed to get tickets with wanting the VIP package so I kinda had do, I loved the idea of being able to be at the soundcheck, a kind-of behind the scenes thing.

And from what I've heard so far on this tour, I will end up being eternally grateful to my friend for "making me" get the VIP package so I get to be part of the truly unique experience he has made these soundchecks. Taking requests - that is way cool. Chatting with the folks in the crowd during it - beyond cool. But making the soundchecks something private, something that the rest of the world can only hear descriptions of, not see or hear... THAT makes it really, really special. THAT makes the people there true VIPs. So thank you for that, David. And I can't WAIT for mine.

Stacy, I'm with you on the sound check thing. I've met David and to be honest I'm not sure I have much else to say to him. I got the chance to thank him for the music and tell him how much it means to me. I'm also with you on the 80s rock. Loved it then and still love it now!

Random story: I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for many years, Silicon Valley to be precise. And just like Las Vegas is about a 4-hour drive from L.A., Reno is about a 4-hour drive from the Bay Area. So it could be a day-trip if you wanted. Once I was on just such a day-trip with friends and as we reached the apex of the mountain pass, Reno unfolded below us, with a huge landing smack dab in the middle of downtown. We spent the next few minutes trying to figure out exactly what casino was at the foot of the rainbow, because surely it was a "sign" that there was a pot of gold to be had there.

I think our eyes weren't so good because none of us came away winners that night. But if there's a rainbow there today, would that mean it's a MAGIC *wink, wink* since David is there?

Okay, now people are saying that the Whitesnake cover was supposed to be a "secret" no one at soundcheck was allowed to tell anyone. When there is no way humanly possible to have a group of people hear David sing a new cover and not have anyone else find out. Which leads me to... sorry, I have to say, as I was saying earlier to the other mods, the only thing that makes sense is if he didn't actually sing that, if he actually conspired with the VIPs and ask them to tell only one person this false rumor and tell that one person that it's secret and not to tell a soul, for the sole purpose of seeing how long it takes to hit twitter and the forums.

Me right along with you, Jeannie. Some hilarious shit on twitter about the whole drama. If it IS a prank on Dave's part, well, I find that 1000x more entertaining than that song. If he really DID play them a new cover then honestly want them not to tell anyone even the name of the cover, well, he's a bit naive. I prefer to think he's a prankster. Or the whole thing was a game of telephone played out on twitter based on misinterpretations of this tidbit and that. But Andy's & Devin's tweets crack me up whether it was an intentional prank or the guys are all just laughing as hard as I am at the "twitter telephone" melodrama.

In my opinion, there is no way David would say to any part of this fandom, don't tell anyone. He knows us wayyyyy to well. he may have said it in a fleeting phrase. But i don't believe he meant it. Besides, when he really wants to keep something from us, he's gotten pretty damn good at it. So I'm with you guys. It's either a prank, or he didn't mean it. kwim? I mean seriously? After 3 years, does he honestly think this fandom can keep a secret? He's smarter than that. lol
