We do talk a lot, don't we? It was time for a new thread, so here we go.

Hope everyone had a good weekend, and if you haven't had a chance you should definitely check out the show threads from Manila and Cebu... some awesome pictures and videos there!

I will have to go to the library bridge so I can watch some videos. The pictures are great.

I have an Abi free week. She went to spend it with my parents. She plans to spend many hours playing with her friend Samantha (they met while swimming two years ago). I need to take advantage of the quiet. David is so much less demanding of my attention. When he is away for his week, she thinks it is time to pack in as many activities as humanly possible.

Hi, ladies! Thanks for posting the picture, Barb! That is absolutely gorgeous!!! Drool

We got home at about 3:00 today. It was so good to be home after 3 days in the car. When we got home, the house smelled because our frig had stopped working...apparently weeks ago. Everything in the frig and freezer had melted, decomposed, spoiled, etc., and some areas had moldy fuzz that was inches thick. It was disgusting!!! That was a fun little project to deal with. It is so great to be here though! I can't wait to sleep in my own bed tonight.

Paula, I'm glad you are back home... but so sorry you had to come home to that mess. That has to be one of the worst smells in the world.

Annette, I'm glad Abi's getting another little mini-vacation. Enjoy your week!

Not much going on here... I'm coming into a busy time at work again. I always say late July through September is my second tax season. Not as busy as the real one, but pretty busy. I have a lot of clients that are on June 30th year ends, so now their audits are starting.

Paula, EWWWWW I'm sorry you had to come home to that mess.

Jeannie, I hope the rest of your week goes smoothly.

Paula, that sounds really gross. What a nasty surprise that was to come home to after a nice vacation.

I really need to come up with way to make some money from home or get a part-time job. Any ideas I have had in the past never seem to take off. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

My phone is fried. I dropped it into the toilet last night and it is still not back after a night in a bowl of rice. I guess I will have to make a trip to the Verizon store today. Thankfully we are due new phones. The bad thing is that I have probably lost all of my contact information. Sigh.

Just ignore me while I whine for a minute. I finally get a freakin vacation and the weather forecast SUCKS!! It's been hot and sunny at the beach all week. The forecast for the new few days is rain. Oh well, I'm leaving tomorrow morning for Long Beach Island. I guess there's not much I can do about it.

Oh, I hope for your sake that the forecast is wrong Barb. I'm jealous either way though... I am so ready to get away. Not that I have any vacations planned for this summer, but still I am ready to go somewhere. I don't even care where... I just want to get away. LOL Face

I'm working tomorrow, but maybe only a half day, and then I'm taking Friday off. I'm going to get really busy in the next few weeks, so I figured that I'll take some time while I can. I have to go out on an audit next Monday and Tuesday, so I need to finish all the prep work before I leave tomorrow. I figure I should be done by noon, if everything goes smoothly.

It's been so hot and dry here. We finally got a storm this afternoon, but it only lasted about ten minutes and it didn't lower the heat any. Nor was there enough rain to make a difference to the yards and gardens. Very Sad

Barb, you are definitely allowed to whine...that sucks! I'm sorry the forecast is not encouraging. Hopefully things will improve. After all of the heat, one nice rainstorm might be a nice break...but only one, not days of rain. Are you going with your kids? I hope you have a great time!

Jeannie, enjoy your long weekend! I hope you have a nice day off.

My kids go back to school on Monday, so we are busy this week doing "Meet the Teacher" events and buying school supplies, etc. I'm kind of excited!

Wow, Paula. I can't imagine the kids going back to school in July. Mine never started until after Labor Day - and neither did we when I was in school. Of course, most of the schools around here aren't air conditioned.

It is kind of crazy, but the funny thing is that my kids don't seem as nervous this year about going back...simply because it hasn't been very long since they were last in school.

We got back to school the Tuesday after Labor Day and usually end about June 20.

The forecast hasn't improved Crying It's calling for thunder storms and thunder showers for the next three days straight. It will still be good to get away for a few days. I'm going with friends, no kids involved lol.

Going to Cedar Point with David is way more intense than going with Abi. All he rides are the aggressive thrill rides. His favorite is the Top Thrill Dragster that goes 120 mph and lasts 17 seconds. We rode it together 4 times on Wednesday (he rode it without me once). I learned not to ride it after dark. You get a face full of bugs. Eww!

We finally got some decent rain yesterday morning. Today it is overcast but no rain so far.

I have Indians tickets for tonight. I hope it holds off raining until after that. Then it can rain until the game on Monday night when I am taking David to the Indians game (was able to secure free tickets for teens and adults with disabilities).

We have a pretty quiet weekend planned. Tomorrow night we are going out to dinner with another couple, but other than that we just be hanging out at home and getting ready for school on Monday. Three of the boys already have homework!

Have a fabulous weekend, everyone!

David & Abi would be seriously bummed if they had to start school already. They both greatly value their summer. David is already bummed out that he has to start before Abi. He starts on August 20th.

I'm home! I've realized that my limit for being with people is about two days lol. It's not that I'm antisocial. I love people. I like to be around people every day. Just not every single moment of every day. I need down time when I am alone. It can be time in the same room as others as long as I'm able to read, watch tv, relax etc without making conversation.

We did end up getting a lot of rain at the beach. By a lot I mean that the teenagers at the end of the block were paddling around in their little blow up boat in the middle of the road. But it was still nice to get away and be somewhere different. We found a fabulous restaurant last night. I had one of the best meals I have ever eaten. The wait staff was great, the food was incredible and not too pricey(average was 22-27 for entrees). The owner stopped by every table to say hello and make sure everything was good.

It's nice to have those getaways when you can get them. Even if it's somewhere close to home that you've never been. The other day we went and checked out a park that has some really nice, shaded hiking trails. Guess what? It's a 15 minute drive away.

The weather lately has been weird. We finally got some rain - a good night and day's worth - this week. THANK GOD. Now if we could just get some more and knock the awful heat away for good.

YIKES! Back-to-school season is upon us. I've seen the stuff in the stores and the sale flyers already. I hate this time of year because every year it seems to get more expensive. *sigh* The kids' birthdays are in the summer months too. Get them in school and guess what? Next comes Halloween, then more $$$$.... I need a money tree.

Good morning, ladies!

Back to work after a 3 day weekend. Blah. I'll be out of the office today and tomorrow working at a client's. Hopefully things will go smoothly.

We had one day of good rain, but the temps are supposed to be back in the 90s today. I really hope the air conditioning is working well at my client's.

Hope everyone has a good day!

Barb, I'm glad you got away and had a good time.

Jeannie, good luck with the client for the next 2 days.

It was crazy Friday night down in Cleveland. There was a concert at the same time as the game plus the new casino I forgot about (I did not vote for that and I still want it to go away). We had great seats (even though we got there late). The Indians played lousy but the post-game fireworks were spectacular, the best I have ever seen. It took forever to get out of downtown because the entrance ramp onto 90 was closed. Thankfully I was with a friend and not with Abi or David. I decided when I take David down today we are going to take the rapid train.

It sounds like everyone is having a great summer! Barb, that is a lot of rain! I'm glad you had a good time anyway, but I know very well that it is so good to get home.

What is with all of the heat this summer? The whole country is having a very hot summer.

Going down on the rapid was the way to go. It definitely beat sitting in a traffic jam. The game was much better too. The Indians won!

I could do without the heat. It was just too hot at the game last night. It's the only time I was glad to have nosebleed seats. There was a nice brisk breeze blowing in from behind us.

Good morning, ladies!

Annette, glad you had a good time at the game. This heat has been terrible, hasn't it? But with the storms that rolled through last night, seems like it's going to be a little cooler for the next few days - mid to low 80s for a change. I'll take that!

Been busy at work this week... I keep a stenographer's notebook in my desk where I write down everything I need to do. I went through yesterday morning and updated it, and I currently have 3 pages worth of stuff. Looks like the next month will be very busy.

I'm just glad it's Friday. I'll be ready to get home this afternoon and have a couple of days to relax.

That sounds like an overwhelming list, Jeannie. Good luck with that.

We got a new computer on Sunday so my computer frustrations will hopefully be over or at least diminished. I thought I would have more time to spend online with the kids at school now, but the first week has been so busy! Yesterday before school Tom told me he was supposed to have a cello for his first orchestra session at 2:00, so I did run out and arrange a rental and drop it off at school, only to find out that he doesn't actually need it until Monday. That is kind of how my week has been going. I swear I have gone out to buy school supplies about 6 times.

Does anyone have any big weekend plans? Rich and I are going to the Idols concert tonight. I am most excited to see Elise rock it out of course, but I have heard great things about all of the kids' performances. I am looking forward to it! Have a great weekend!

Paula, I always hated the first week of school. Nothing like getting a supply list on the first day and battling a zillion other parents at the store for what's left on the shelves. Thankfully the youngest boy I take care of got his list in the mail a month before school starts. It made my life a bit easier.

Jeannie, Can you break the list down into section of important, not quite as important and "whenever I get around to it"? It might make it seem not so overwhelming.

I do have it prioritized, and it does help, Barb. The problem is that everything on it has to be done by August 30th... I started a separate list for the jobs that I know I need to prep for and that have deadlines in September or October. The good thing is that at the end of the day every day, I get to highlight out the things I've completed, which does make me feel like I'm at least accomplishing something. (And I use different colored highlighters every day, so that my list eventually turns into a pretty "magic rainbow" of accomplishments.) LOL Face Gotta make it as fun as possible, I suppose.

This is always my second "busy season" with all my June 30th year end clients. By the end of October things will be slow again, and I'll get a break before tax season starts.

Paula, buying all the supplies was the worst part of a new school year. On the plus side, you've got the cello rental out of the way in advance at least. My sons all played bass in their school orchestra - it was nice because the school provided enough for everyone to play at school, and had extras (the older ones) they would rent out that the kids could take home to practice with. So we just had to make one trip home with a huge bass at the beginning of the school year, and then one trip to return it at the end. (They only did that with the basses because they are so big and expensive. The other instruments kids had to rent or buy their own.)

The worst school supply year is when they need that $130 graphing calculator.

The new management company for my complex is sending bills for rent. We can finally pay online instead of bringing a check to the office every month!! Included along with the rent are gas, trash and "pet rent". My bill this month...

rent: $919.00
pet rent: $25
gas: $8.73
trash fee: $10
credit/balance $225.00
current charges $962.73
balance due $737.73

First problem. For some reason they think I have a credit of $225.00?? HUH?

Second problem. My rent is $1194 not $919 lol

Third problem. My pet rent is $50 because I have more than one pet.

What I really owe... $1,262.73 It would be nice if I only owed 737, but I'm sure they will realize their mistake and want their money at some point.

LOL... seems someone has a problem.

Hmm... if you send them the $1262, maybe next month you'll get like a $750 credit on the bill, and won't owe anything. LOL Face

There is some kind of problem with my apartment account. I didn't get a gas bill at all the last few months. I called the office a few times and they told me not to worry about it. They said they were switching to a new gas provider and that was the problem. But everyone else got a bill lol. I finally called the gas company and they said that the complex was not giving them a reading for my unit.

Our gas bill is done in an odd way. Our complex actually pays the entire bill to the gas company and then we pay our part to the rental office. So I don't think I am in danger of being shut off. Our electric we pay right to the electric company.

I haven't been online since late last week. I've been really busy. David went to mom & dad's for the week so I always have to make sure he has everything that he needs medication wise. This time I ended up packing his bag (mostly) because he was in slug mode. It was probably for the best because he tends to forget things every time.

I took Abi, 2 of her friends and one of the friend's mom (church friend of mine) to Cedar Point on Sunday. They had a deal where our friends could get a pass for $19.99 because we have season passes. The weather was perfect and the girls had a great time together. This week is VBS for Abi. This is her last year unless she changes her mind and wants to help. She also needs to get busy and finish her 4H projects since Judging is next Thursday.

Jeannie, we were at the Idol concert on Friday night, but we taped the Opening Ceremonies and watched them on Saturday. In fact, we watched the Olympics almost all day on Saturday, and I've been watching them a lot ever since. I LOVE the real life drama! It's so exciting!

Annette, I'm glad you are having a nice time with Abi. It's nice that you have some time alone with each of the kids.

Barb, I think that's pretty awesome about your bill! That's a huge difference! Hopefully they stick with that.

Abi is doing snack attack and she is showing her cat.

Abi is really getting into the Olympics for the first time. I love having someone to watch it with. Last night Brian came downstairs and sat down (not sure why since he hates all sports except NASCAR). He started the usual bashing of sports among other things. Abi hasn't learned to tune him out yet. She told him if he couldn't be quiet he needed to leave. He finally did.

David will come back just in time for another busy week.

Good morning, ladies!

I've been watching the Olympics in the evenings too. I always enjoy them. It's been weird because I've been very spoiled - you just can't avoid it - and yet it hasn't bothered me knowing in advance how things will come out.

Ready for another busy week at work. (Or as ready as I'll ever be for that, lol.) At least it's supposed to be cooler today. Only 83 for a high.

I hope everyone is doing well!

I agree, Jeannie...I love the spoilers. I don't feel like it takes anything away from watching the athletes. If anything, I know what to watch for so it's more interesting. I have been watching the Olympics A LOT! Those people absolutely amaze me.

Annette, LOL at Abi telling Brian to stop talking or leave. I'm surprised that worked!

It didn't work for the first few times. It only did because he really dislikes sports and can only take so much. I was relieved when he finally left.

WOOHOO!! I'm on vacation until next Thursday! I wasn't sure I was going to make it through today. Packing a family of five for vacation, checking them in for flights, pre-paying for baggage, stopping mail and newspaper, cleaning anything perishable out of fridge, taking kids to eye doctors, taking kids to baseball... It felt like the errands, phone calls, appointments and tasks were never ending today.

I'm going to visit my mom on Cape Cod for a few days. The rest of my vacation I am doing nothing except for sitting beside the pool with a good book.

Oh and in the middle of my hectic day I got two phone calls.

The first from my co-teacher. She took a full time position in the public district Very Sad Now I have to break in a new teacher. I'm really going to miss her. It makes life so much easier when your co-teacher knows exactly how you think and what needs to be done in the classroom.

The second call was from a friend who was in the hospital. She was selling one of her cars and ended up in the ER(and then being admitted for a cardiac event). I had to run over to the hospital to get the title of her car to drop it off for the buyer.

Wow Barb, that does sound like an exhausting day. Good luck with breaking in a new teacher. I hope your friend heals quickly.

Abi is almost ready for the judging on her snack attack project. She got her poster done and the last thing in her book (test cooking different sized meatballs). All she needs to do is go over the information so she knows the answers. I will be glad when that is over.

Yeah I'm still here. Just need some time to unwind and deal with life lately, which has been very loud (using David terminology) and needs to quiet down. Seems as if something is coming at me around every turn.

Needless to say August needs to come to an end very soon. *sigh*

{{Karen}} hugs for you! I understand about life being too loud. I hope you can find some peace soon.

I'm heading to Cape Cod to visit my mom for three days. Late tonight I'll drop the dog off at my daughter's and hit the road. I prefer to drive through the night/early morning hours to avoid traffic. She's already cooking my favorite things!! She called this morning to say she made chowder and stuffed quahogs(big clams).

I hope everyone has a good week. I'll be back on Thursday.
