Following my father....

Recommended Posts

I dreamed that my brothers and I were in our old hometown, in the downtown business section. We were with our father. But he was dressed in robes; dingy and gray, as if old and worn out and washed many times. His hair was long, hanging down his back and gray.(In real life it is short and white and he always wears jeans). He was looking for something and walked up to every door, but wasn't finding what he was looking for. My brothers and I stayed with him, unsure what he was looking for, but it was if he was disoriented (which he has never been in real life--he is the smartest, sharpest person I have ever known). We followed him for a while, then I told my brothers I would have to go. We had wasted a lot of time doing this and I had things I had to get back to. They agreed. We looked up and Dad was half-way down the street, still peering in doorways. One of my brothers went to join him. Then I woke up.
In real life I could see myself feeling this way about my mother, but never my father. Any ideas?

It does!! Now I realize the dream was actually about my mother. My mother suffers from a very serious and difficult to treat mental illness. The way she was dressed in the dream, hair and "robes" (gown and housecoat) was exactly the way her grandmother always dressed. Her grandmother suffered from the same mental illness (which we suspect is actually a familiar spirit). I think the doors my mother was going to represented the people she has always confided her delusions to, (in the dream the doors were always closed) and I believe this means these people will no longer be open to her. As for myself and my brothers, we are literally wearing out in trying to deal with her and get her help. Already, we have distanced ourselves emotionally, with the exception of one brother, who hasn't really been around to deal with her in the past. And he is sticking with her now, as he was doing in the dream. Thank you Mia! And any further insight you or anyone else has would be greatly appreciated.

You are welcome, Exo. I don't really feel there is much more to the dream than what you saw. Maybe the Lord was revealing to you, how He uses people in dreams so that you can understand one in the future or so that you can help someone else out with their own dream.

Love,
