house on fire

Recommended Posts

I had a dream my house was on fire.  This wasn't my real life house, but my grandparents' house.  (Both pairs of my grandparents were dead before I was born. ) So I was grabbing things and throwing them outside.  This was the weird thing: I felt no panic, only a sense of relief, great peace really.  I grabbed baby photos of my son, my purse and some other financial records, some personal care products like shampoo and some band aids.  I was satisfied I had everything I'd ever need.

Hi, Deborah -

Is God dealing with anything from the past - your own or your family's?

As you said, you saved some important things and had "everything you'd ever need."  Whatever area He's handling, the outcome should be positive/satisfying.

Hi Deborah,

When I read this, what struck me is what you chose to save.  There was no panic in a situation where panic is normal.

Your son's baby pictures
Your purse & some other financial documents
Personal care products; shampoo
Band aids

These are specific things and you went through a burning house to get them. I say that because baby pictures and personal care products are kept in different rooms.

I think there's a message in the actual things you chose to save.

God bless

Marla

Yes, Mark.  I've been asking God for forgiveness of things in my family tree that are offensive to Him.  My grandfather, for example, hated Jews and even preached that hatred from the pulpit, I've heard.

I think you're right, Marla, that the things I saved are significant.  I think the baby pictures and financial documents represent the good things I've inherited that I want to keep.  The shampoo may represent a cleansing and band aids a healing.  I remember grabbing the band aids as an afterthought.  I took them in case the fire had hurt anyone but I didn't feel any burns on my own body.

After I read your response, the Holy Spirit brought this thought to me.

These grandparents were deceased before you were born. Why were your son's baby pictures in this house?

Your son is another generation.

It was my house in the dream but I knew it used to belong to my grandparents.

Yes, my son is like an inheritance because he's a blood great grandson of my grandfather.  Years ago I received $800 from my grandfather's estate when my uncle died so that inheritance was quite literal.
