Nurses at more than 100 NHS trusts in England voted in favour, while some ambulance trusts and integrated care boards will also walk-out with chaos expected to reach all corners of the NHS (shown in map and pie chart graph). RCN members in every service in Scotland and Northern Ireland also backed the strikes, along with all but one health board in Wales. The union has warned that strikes will kick-off before Christmas and run sporadically until May - spanning around six months. Matthew Taylor (top right), chief executive of the NHS Confederation, said hospitals will do all they can to 'minimise harm to patients' but admitted operations and appointments will be cancelled or postponed.
