FPLR DRIVER INTERVIEW:: Mullen Motorsport

Today I had the surprise pleasure of chatting for a short time with Chris Mullen, driver of the #28 Queenswood Service Center 2004 Honda Civic of Mullen Motorsports in the Disklok Civic Cup series. He was able to sit down with me and give me thoughts concerning not only the series he races in, but it's video game counterpart.

Reporter- 'Thank you for taking the time to chat with us. This Forza Pro League Racing Civic Cup series has been slowly gaining the eye of the eSport world, so much so that drivers such as yourself have started to take notice. How did you find out about the guys at FPLR and their replica series?'

Chris- "I first found out about FPLR on Facebook when the Civic Cup Official page shared some information regarding the series."

Reporter- 'Do you feel that racing in games is getting closer and closer to the feel of being there in person? And likewise do you feel that racing in these type of games help someone drive the car better in real life?'

Chris- "Yes definitely! I'm not a big gamer myself, but my brother has a pretty good set up which I usually use before each event to learn the circuits etc.
With it being my first season in circuit racing, I need as much seat time as possible and I feel with a decent wheel set up I really can get up to speed alot quicker on race weekends."

Reporter- 'Excellent. Tell us about the Disklok Civic Cup series you race in so far. How has your season been shaping up?'

Chris- "The Disklok Civic Cup is by far one of the most competitive championships I have raced in. The racing is intense and you always find yourself in some kind of battle whichever end of the grid you start at!
I've had a steady start to the season with a mixed bag of results, my best being p10 in race 2 at Snetterton leaving me p14 in the championship."

Reporter- 'What would you say is the most challenging thing about racing in these FWD Hondas, in both formats?'

Chris- "The most challenging thing for me is getting the Civic set up right. Without a good stable car its hard to put in a good quali time and then your starting on the back foot for the race. Finding that 'perfect' set up even on a game is very challenging but its one of the most important things when racing in either of the formats."

Reporter- 'Good point. That about wraps it up. Any final thoughts?'

Chris- "I think that the FPLR Civic Cup series is great and can see it growing from strength to strength. It's great watch the Live stream and see the cars in the same livery as what we have in the Disklock Civic Cup. Not only is it good for the gamers but its also great from a sponsorship point of view!
I wish the FPLR all the best and you never know i may even make an appearance myself at some point through the season."
