Frogger409 0 Posted August 3, 2012 Dear computer-knowledgeable friends,I come to you, asking you for your assistance in something which I have no experience in. As some of you may or may not know, my computer's psu got fried a month ago. I finally got it fixed yesterday, something which I am very grateful for, but I noticed something different. The games that I used to play at higher settings normally suddenly couldn't run properly and the fps would go down to the 20 fps area. As I stopped playing yesterday night, I resolved to find out why in the morning. So, as I checked my specs I see that my cpu is no longer overclocked. It used to be over clocked but I do not remember up to where and I have no idea how to get it back. I don't want to obliterate my computer by screwing with things so I've decided to ask the you computer-knowledgeable friends. I will link my and I ask you how I can overclock it, so as to get the performance I used to have (ofc, I know that I won't be able to get super good performance, but I just want to increase it by enough to not kill my comp but still be good). Many thanks and have a nice day!EDIT: Link removed, windows key was showing
DemonicD3 0 Posted August 3, 2012 What exactly caused your CPU to fry? Maybe the fact it was overclocked caused it to burn out? Overclocking is not something I'd get assistance from on these forums, OC can either get your greater performance or damage your PC. I'd get help from the forums that specificly deal with overclocking computers. They'll ask you what your specs are then they'll recommend what you should overclock to if at all and tell you how to do it.
Ericrb 0 Posted August 3, 2012 Check in your bios if you have an auto-overclocking thing. Overlocking is too risky when you don't know anything about the computer. Depending on how much your components has been used, their customs manufacturer spec, etc.If you ever find out how to overclock, please do it mhz by mhz and have a bunch of tracking stuff on your computer.Pretty sure Sharok can help you, but I'm going to stop here. Frogger409 0 Posted August 3, 2012 Alright. I'll just wait till I get proper assistance with this xDAlso, Dem, the CPU didn't fry, it was the PSU. It fried because of a power surge and I didn't have surge protector (do now tho)
