A question for Mexican friends.

My husband and I are watching the Argentina and Mexico game, and he just noticed the stance of the players from the Mexican team during the anthem. Could someone tell me what this represents? I know that being from the USA originally, people have their hands over their hearts, but that stance is one I've never seen before anywhere.

We all do that in front of the mexican flag in oficial ceremonies, it is the civil salute to the flag, I dont remember exactly why the hand is in that position, it is something related to "protect" the heart from bullets .. i will ask my brother who is in the navy, he might know
