How does the Mate system work?

What happens If my cat mates with someones cat? To whom will be the baby? et cetera.

When you social breed with someone else, both you and the other person get a basket. I have a twin idol, so when I send the requests, I don't get twins, but when someone else sends me a request, then I get twins. Usually I adopt out both twins, but if I am especially fond of the pet, I'll keep one.

Then If I have a male Hamster and someone has a Female. They mate I and that person gets a basket?

Both get baskets. The icon has two baskets when the social breed is successful. Each person gets a basket.
