BILL CONDON TO DIRECT SUMMIT ENTERTAINMENT'S THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN

Los Angeles, CA April 28, 2010 — Summit Entertainment has confirmed that Academy Award winner Bill Condon will direct THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN, based on the fourth novel in author Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series. THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN, is currently being written by Melissa Rosenberg, and will star Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. Wyck Godfrey, Karen Rosenfelt, and Stephenie Meyer will produce the project.

"Bringing Stephenie Meyer's BREAKING DAWN to the screen requires a graceful and intelligent hand and we believe Bill Condon is exactly the right steward, having shown equal and abundant talents of immense creativity and subtle sensitivity," said Erik Feig, President of Production and Acquisitions, for Summit Entertainment.

THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN illuminates the secrets and mysteries of this spellbinding romantic epic that has entranced millions.

Condon is well known for writing and directing DREAMGIRLS, KINSEY, and GODS AND MONSTERS, for which he won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay in 1999. He was nominated for a second Oscar for his screenplay for the movie musical CHICAGO in 2003. Most recently the multi-hyphenate directed the pilot episode for the Showtime series "The Big C" and produced the 81st Annual Academy Awards telecast, hosted by Hugh Jackman.

I wonder if it will all be in one film or if they will split it into two?
I read an interview with Stephanie Meyers saying she was happy with either...dont know if I can handle the suspense of having to wait lol

me too lol...it is such a big book though with so much going on, I would hate to see it ruined by them trying to shorten it too much so we miss all the important bits

It would make more sense to have the book split in 2 movies otherwise you will lose lots of good bits they will have to leave out.

Nothing's been confirmed yet (I guess they want to keep the suspense and keep people guessing).

my co-worker told me about this yesterday. i'm really excited they chose bill condon!

i want them to split the last book too because it's so long with so many key parts, but where would they split it? if i remember correctly isn't the book told in 2 different perspectives? bella's and jacobs? but jacob comes in the middle of bella's .... is that right?

I think I've read somewhere that if they would split it it would be
part 1 - marriage, honneymoon, pregnancy etc. - while Bella is still human
part 2 - Bella's life as a vampire

question is - can you really believe all that you read on internet? Until it's officially confirmed we can only be guessing

That is the problem with the internet...the more you look the more conficting information you will find

well, i really hope it is split in two.... in any case, i can't wait for it to be released!!!
