Raymond 0 Posted April 20, 2009 Stuttgart-based sports car maker Porsche has officially revealed its four-door Gran Turismo; the Panamera at the Shanghai Motor Show in China. Initially, the Panamera is offered in three forms, all of which are powered by a 4.8 V8 powerplant, and that a 6-cylinder gasoline as well as a hybrid version will join the stable later.The 1,770 kilograms Panamera which measures 4.97 meters long and 1.42 meters high is offered in forms including the base Panamera S, the all wheel drive Panamera 4S and the high performance Panamera Turbo. The S is powered by a 4.8 liter V8 that is capable of 400HP which comes with a 6 speed manual, while potential buyers can also opt for Porsche’s 7 speed PDK dual clutch tranny. This model goes for 94, 575 Euros. The 4S also outputs 400HP from the same engine and it can be fetched for 102,251 Euros, while the high performance, also all wheel drive Turbo version can deliver 500HP from the 4.8 V8 that is coupled with a twin-turbo system. The Turbo which carries a 135,154 Euros price tag can sprint to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds, to a top speed of 303 km/h.All engines feature Direct Injection as well as Auto Start Stop, when fitted with the PDK tranny. The interior is finished with high quality materials, giving it a very expensive feel. Buyers can choose between 13 leather upholstery colour and material combination and 7 interior trim finish styles including materials such as Carbon and Olive Nature open-pore wood. Other interior features include Comfort Memory Package, High-End Surround Sound System from the Berlin audio specialist Burmester with 16 speakers and 16 amplifiers, 1,250 liters of luggage space (with rear seats folded down) and more. The Panamera, which will go head to head with the upcoming Aston Martin Rapide also features, among others, an active aerodynamic system with a 4-way adjustable rear spoiler (for the Panamera Turbo), adaptive air suspension with additional air volume on demand as well as a complete cover on the under-floor that extends to the drivetrain tunnel and rear-end silencers that helps reduce both air resistance and lift forces on the axles, which can result to improved fuel economy.
