Air Box Removal

Well as the title says, I'm thinking of getting rid of it on the Bonneville, when the new predators go on in Novemeber. So here are the questions:
a) Will it effect the MOT when it needs one with regards the regs?
b) How easy is it to do?
c) Do you reckon I can do it myself or will I need help? (help gratefully recieved and bacon butties included, plus copious amounts of tea and coffee!)
d) Will it ruin the look of the Bonnie?

bit confused about what your asking. im assuming predators are exhausts if my googling is correct.

I was debating getting the air box removed at the same time as getting the new exhaust put on as the bike, as it will require an Arrows remap.
Lots of people reckon that the airbox isn't needed, so I was wondering how it effects the MOT, emissions testing etc.

ahh right ok

the emissions shouldnt be a problem. what will you be replacing the airbox with? individual filters?

the only problem you might have mot wise is if the exhausts are too loud

you should be able to do it yourself (although im not familiar with these bikes, its usually straight forward)

and only you can decide whether it looks right or not Smile

The exhaust, well they will have to be taken off and the old ones put on for the MOT Wink

If you bin the air box and replace the pipes it will need remaping for the fuel injection, also you would need cone type K&N filters when all this as been done,You will find that the induction noise from the motor will drive you nuts.
And when the MOT is due you would need to go back to std and run the risk of remaping which If you can not do your self can be an expensive pain with flat spots and all sorts of hassels.
If Triumph thought it was a good idea it would all come as std.imo

a mate of maine did this to his bonnie-and he replaced the air box with velocity stacks-looks nice thumbs

How many times have I thought that!!

You will probably get away with replacing the pipes only for its MOT and put up with any fueling glitches for the day or so before re conversion. It is not as though the MOT is checking your performance, just as long as the mapping does not over burn or over fuel to alter the co2 reading too much.
