Oldfart 0 Posted July 7, 2012 There was another reason to make Philip smile yesterday – news of a 16 per cent “pay rise” for the Queen, thanks to record profits at the Crown Estate. Her annual Government grant to cover her official duties is to increase from £31million this year to £36million from next April under a controversial new formula linking funding for the royals to profits from the £8billion estate. But under the new Sovereign Grant system, the monarchy is entitled to 15 per cent of the profits from the property empire, which includes Ascot racecourse, Regent Street in London’s West End and most of Britain’s coastline.Figures out yesterday revealed the property portfolio enjoyed the best performance in its history, with profits of £240million. Macie_UK 0 Posted July 7, 2012 Crown Estate is Liz's though, so why does she only get 15% of the profits?

Tony nitrous 0 Posted July 8, 2012 I cant rember the exact figure what what the royal family costs each working person in the UK each year isn't very much.I know in 2009 or 2011 it was about 70pper head of the population per year. Evenadding on poice and oversea's trips I wouldntexpect it to be far over a pound a year. They run a huge "business" with a lot ofemployee's in many rolls.Whilst they are seen as the ultimate rich Im not sure they have a lot of control overwhat they can sell/buy or do and unlike the rest of us, their always in the public eye.Like them or hate them, they are the best Touristattraction the UK has and bring in a lot of US / Japanese / oversea's tourism.I sure as hell wouldnt want the job.
