Yeah I knew about Spain winning against Germany but I didn't realised that it was semi-final game.

There was a story about that octopus that predicts the results and then someone posted on FB that the octopus was right Laughing

It could have been me, or maybe I was on Twitter at the time.
Paul the octopus has been correct in his 'predictions' for all of Germany's matches.

I think they put mussels as food in two tanks, each opposing team's flag in one tank, and the one he chooses to eat from has always been the winning team ... not sure if they've tried teams other than Germany and their opponents though?

Nice to hear of you getting a bit of time to yourself now Marie
Have you heard anything at all of Chris? it's been ages for me.

  2. I thought of you Bee when I watched the men's final!

Spain -v- Holland is the final - two European teams after all those entries. Not only a great achievement but also a good end game for Liverpool fans

  3. Oh for crying out loud, the sticker thing has now frozen the game.
I'm going to have to go and sort it. If I don't get back soon, I'll be giving the lap top a whipping!

    (in reality, rebooting lol)

  4. I've never got the seeds that people leave when visiting, I posted a few status updates asking people not to bother, but not everyone sees them.

Right, let me just make a few clicks, and Bee, I have some sticker packs I can send when I get back into my own a/c -- would you like some too Frannie?

  5. Too many glitches in this game! grrr.
How about free gifts, do either of you collect them?
Can I send you any seeds or anything else?

Sorry for being prodigal - I do try and look in a couple of times a day, sometimes it's only been one - but my timing hasn't been the best (think that's happened to a lot of us)

Yes, the furniture is a reward really, but we also needed replacements for stuff we cleared out. I have two more pieces on order, I think they've been delayed in shipment from overseas though.

  6. I read that Frannie. How old was Zoe?

Am suffering with hayfever affecting my eyes, very runny and sore, am bathing with cold, black tea - but waiting for my new anti allergy probes to come and the room ioniser - happy to try anything!

My furniture came yesterday, it fits the room very well, but one of the pieces is damaged - the store are sending a polisher out first thing Friday morning. I'm sure he'll be able to sort it out and it'll be fine.

  7. Oooh Frannie I didn't see you, I grabbed a coffee too, how funny!
    Yes, how is Robin doing?

Dennis is so silly with me, he wont just walk past me and out of the door, he goes around the island in the kitchen, then hides the other side of the table - I have to open the door as wide as I can and stand back, and he then runs past and leaps over the step ... I have no idea what he thinks I might do to him!
Today there was a washing (laundry) basket in his way, so that had to be factored in as well congratulations

  8. Good Morning Bee (and anyone else who comes by)

Wish - so very sorry, please accept my condolences at such a sad time x

On a much happier note, how exciting BG to send a message from the sky!!!
Hope to hear more of your trip.

I'm having a bit of a funny time lately - don't know if it's hay fever

Back in a sec, Dennis is crying...

  9. Sorry to bring the mood down.
That's the occasion marked now then.

On a totally different note, I had new furniture delivered this morning for our guest bedroom, they were here and gone by 8.15am, but one piece is damaged, so I have to go and look out my original paperwork and ring the store as they use independent carriers.
    See you in a bit.

  10. Yes, it terms of loss of life it could have been far greater.
ED was 20, at Uni and living in a flat in London full time (permanently) with a flatmate. She was also working part time at a magazine for the summer.

There was total chaos, no mobile phones and no transport either.

It was the misinformation (they said there was a power surge) followed by all sorts of stories and then different events breaking out - we were wondering all day long what was going to happen next.

Luckily for us IMOM was on a temporary move to an office located in Coulsdon outside London, so he had the car and was able to leave and go get ED.
To this day I absolutely marvel that a friend I'd met up north, who'd moved to a village outside Reading, was traceable (we'd just been doing Christmas cards for a few years after both moving away from the area where we'd met and all 4 of us had been firm friends) and, that she managed to find and recognise ED.

These are the friends we occasionally meet up with now for meals in London.

  11. Good Morning Everyone

Frannie, completely understand the element of mixed feelings, but after that you can't let your hearts rule your head.
I posted on your FB wall too - hope Robin heals ok.

BG, again, have said it Bon Voyage, have a good and safe journey, and a WHOLE LOAD OF FUN take some European best wishes across the pond from us lot to our American chums!

Bee, what a horrid dull day - and as we were just noting on FB a sad day for London and anyone who had any experience of the 2005 London Bombings.
I put my own memories there - can't explain what an awful day it was, the worry - obviously it turned out ok for our family and friends, but it could so easily have not - and all day, we just didn't know.
Am remembering those maimed, those lost and the bereaved.

  12. People calling in to the radio from Northumberland, where the village ring of steel is in operation, some of them sound quite scared.
Police have cleared the streets and people have been told to lock themselves in, including obviously, the schools.

The 2 men who were hostages yesterday have both been arrested on conspiracy to murder.

This is the second major northern 'indident' in a few weeks!!!

There sure are some nutters out there.

  13. Actually Bee, we bought our Samsonite cases in the States, from K Mart I think and they were a fraction of the price that they are here - we took old luggage with us and ditched it congratulations

I haven't flown in 5 years, but in my mind I'm fairly sure that all airlines have their own luggage policy - these days it can be quite a money spinner, hence reducing allocations and charging for extra.

  14. In my experience expensive luggage has lasted far longer and given better service than the cheaper stuff, the only buy cheap/buy twice rule - that said, when we went on a multi destinational holiday and needed different kinds of stuff, we had big canvas bags on wheels - they were much lighter and as it happened, stayed in good condition to this day.

Does the baggage allowance depend on the airline rather than the length of flight?
