I've gotta say I think the CBT is the weakest part of the tests. Doesn't prepare anyone for anything unless you get a good school - the one I did mine at regularly refused to give out certificates if they believed the rider wouldn't be safe, they cared. But there are loads of places that'll take the £100 or so and hand out CBTs to all and sundry. Saw a lad on a scooter nearly get wiped out the other morning - all because of a missed life saver. I firmly believe the CBT training needs to be tougher. Mind you, perhaps not to the level of the current 2 part test - which is, as you all probably know, being dumped!

Whats the fastest indicated speed you've been
thing replied to flange's topic in The Pub "Tinker and Budget"
Accidentally, and alledgedly officer, hit about 140 on a Super Blackbird I was test riding out of a certain, now defunct dealer in Market Harborough. I was heading around the bypass in 6th behind a truck and waiting for an overtaking opportunity figuring I'd see what top-end roll on was like on the thing. It's good, for sure. Hit the indicated 140 before I knew it and figured "best slow down" to discover the bike's brakes are also outstanding. Too damn easy to hit that sort of speed though. Bloody stupid thing to do too, given how the police know that test riders use the bypass. Guess I got lucky! Done about the same sort of speed in a few cars, also equally legally, honest. -

Hello ... New here (no, really?) - got a message on Facebook from some geezer called Dave, which sounded well dodgy so I figured I'd come see! I've been riding a wee bit over two years now, started out of necessity - needed to save money on a Nottingham - Northampton - Nottingham daily commute. Now ride for the hell of it as I work much more locally to home. On my second bike - a Yamaha Thunderace - which so far suits me down to the ground. Besides I live just north of Nottingham in Sutton-in-Ashfield (though I'm originally from London) that's about it for now. So hello all, may be see some of you East Mids folks about sometime. Ride safe all! Greg
