E.goldstein 0 Posted January 31, 2011 Well it’s Monday and there’s not a lot to do, as we’re restricted on what we can look at no Facebook, Ebay, bore me.com and no Utube I am stuck dreaming about getting a second bike.As I am looking at taking my Motorcycle Instructors test and doing some training over the next year, I am thinking that a 600cc muscle bike would be a good bike to have.So for the second bike I am torn between a Honda Hornet 600 and a Suzuki Bandit 600s any input on either bike? I’ve had a few GSXR750’s and 1100’s the old oil cooled engines a few years back, I have had also had a CBR 600f for a while loved the way the CBR600f revved. Ok the GSXR’s I have had are bigger bikes so not quite the same as the Bandit 6, but I did like the easy servicing. Has anyone had both what’s the difference like in terms of commuting and slow control as 125’s with newb’s on are not that quick “we all started like that”!Emmanuel Goldstein (E.goldstein) “They watching you”! greg 0 Posted January 31, 2011 I've got a bandit 600 s but I've sat on my mates cbr 600f your more upright on the bandit which would probably be a bonus if your trying to keep an eye on what your trainees are doing also the lack of faring will make it easier to clean down as I'm guessing you could rack up a fair few miles in all sorts of weather . Guest Guest Posted January 31, 2011 How about CBF600 or 500. A lot of the schools use then and it must be for a reason. I had a CBF500 after I passed my test, good bike, does what it says on the tin. I found it a bit boring which is why it went. In hindsight I wish I had kept it as my winter hack.
peejay 0 Posted January 31, 2011 My instructor had a Bandit 600S which he said was perfect for the job, probably cheaper/easier to own/service etc than a Honda? Also very reliable for daily use
RichardH 0 Posted January 31, 2011 Hmmn, some how i think there will be a long list of votes for the Bandit
flange 0 Posted January 31, 2011 Ive owned both I prefere the Hornet. If seems lower and a fair bit lighter.I love the revvy motor in the hornet as well.It handles ok and is a fun bike to ride.Dont get me wrong the B6 is a great bike. But for me the Hornet is the one.One thing to consider is the Hornet uses a 180 rear so tyres are a bit dearer. The CBF 600 is one to consider.Detuned Hornet motor so 15-20 bhp less which is ok for training but not so good if your gonna rag it about as well
Guest Guest Posted January 31, 2011 Had the same choice... I went with the Bandit but I still love the Hornet. Bandit's are cheap enough, reliable, loads of spare bits floating about on ebay where people chop bits off theirs to fighter them...
E.goldstein 0 Posted January 31, 2011 Well thanks all, it’s looking like its part down to personal choice and part down to cost of running and as some of you quite rightly have pointed out I’ll be doing a fair few miles training.I had looked at the 650 V Storm and the CBF600 and 500, I quite like the V Storm for doing the advance instructon but it’s a bit pricy”, the same goes for the CBF600 and 500, bit new and a bit on the pricey side, “don’t get me wrong both very good bikes”.As I have a bit of time before I need to chooes whitch bike I go for, a bit more serching and contanplatinshion may be order, and other pints are all ways helpful.Keep the ideas coming (E.goldstein) “They watching you”!
