This time of year again!

Recommended Posts

no not the time when the weather is shitty and were all bored ( well bored maybe!! ) its the time of year where i can't think of anything better to do than whip up designs for end cans and get making!! sooo this time im going to stick with stainless steel as its cheaper and easy to work with Twisted Evil the problem is deciding on style, im thinking something a little more skinnier than the usual 110mm wide cans, the typical big bore 2.5" outlets and the typical stubby as hell cans. Im thinking, something around 60-80mm dia, and 370-400mm long with the old school 1.5" or 2" outlet. What you lot recon?

just had a brain fart, might go for quad cans, can get away with 70-75mm dia cans if i do quad, which will be close together but a total height of around 150mm ( 6" ) and can lengths of 370mm on top and 350mm on bottom, that way i can still run 2" outlets and have a choice of 4 configurations fully baffled, top baffled, bottom baffled or straight through. Should cost around £300 completed, just need to work out suppliers Cool

Quite correct, and have never seen one on a bike on the road. I like your idea of skinny cans though, so will watch the thread with interest thumbs

going to keep all the welds on show, keep it more of a raw looking exhaust. Link pipes are already done from previous build, just need to tidy them up a bit and make a few changes Smile

Should be interesting thumbs Have you thought about "crossing" them? Again, not sure if it would work, not being a "mechanical" scratch

Right ere you got you lot, The link pipes i had made earlier on in the year they were as finished, with gold/blue/purple colouring on the welds etc etc... thought i would give them a polish by hand, so for you lot who like a bit of bling, ere ya go ( btw, all done using Meguiars NXT Gen Metal Polysh )

Crap pics as there a really high polished surface Very Happy Will get to work on cans in the next few days. waiting for the end caps to come Smile

Comparison of a standard length Viper can, GP can and the Mivv X-cone

I was going to compare the SGN-Racing carbon can and the standard Z1000 cans but was too bloody cold, was down the workshop giving the bike a coat of wax before locking it up for a few months :P

crossing them? how you meen mate?

Didn't realise this was that long ago, apologies. If you have twin pipes on each side, make the pipes an "x" shape. From the link pipe 'top to bottom' and 'bottom to top'. censored description, but hopefully you'll work out what I mean. scratchscratch This is the reason I leave all this to someone else no1

messure it and just get a cheap "car dustbin" type baffle, cheap as hell and will do the job, or get some sheet metal, cut a hole in the middle ( i'd say around 1.5" ) and bend the edges to form a circle, drill hole in it to mount in can :P Thats the reason i never used a danmoto GP can, not long enough for the outlet size to do enough sound dampening.
