Tony nitrous 0 Posted May 4, 2012 They may have originaly had a H shift. Some car engined bikes did.One trick is the run a cable to a lever on the bars,or a solenoid wired up to a switch, that moves the shift LEFT to RIGHT.Foot moves gears backwards / forwards for 1st and 2nd,Lever or Solenoid knocks the lever across, then foot choses between 3rd and 4th.Sounds complicated but most car engined bikeshave huge amounts of torque so they are less fussy about which gear they are in.
