trebor4460 0 Posted June 25, 2012 I would check the tensioner first, If you want an endless chain you will prob have to split the engine, the othe option is to use a special split link, then you can join it on the old one and feed it through.
pugeyed 0 Posted June 25, 2012 agree on checking the tensioner, most are stuck or at full capacity and just worn out, i got a tensioner made for the xs as nobody did them and the old one was 32 years old!
sparky 0 Posted June 25, 2012 Tensioner was replaced last year I got cam chain symptoms as in the rattle the build up of carbon until it backfires so think its time for a new one as it is 17 and not designed to last forever cheers for input guys
sparky 0 Posted July 14, 2012 Just ordered new chain rocker cover gasket split rivet link to connect it up and while I'm there I'm replacing my plugs for irridium ones all in for £111 from wemoto.com
Tony nitrous 0 Posted July 14, 2012 Done a couple.Had a Mate keep an eye on me with the first one.He recon's a common drama is droppinga link / rivit pin etc down the cam chaintunnel into the bottom end... I keep everything well clear, and pack arag into it when im joining them.
