have you checked the float height? also sounds like its sticking or the jet could be dodgy scratch also does the header get hot on that cylinder ? could be sticking valve ,bad ht cable or plug, im sure someone will point you in the right direction.

If you are sure she's sparking fine and the plugs ok then there's a good chance the float valve is sticking or there is a bit of crap in there stoping the float valve seating right.
You could try to drain its float bowl, this will let the float valve to drop with the float and hopefuly clear the valve, otherwise it's a strip and clean.

yes but like trebor has said there could still be a little bit of muck under the float valve ,

Don't always trust the competency of the garage, the carb balance won't cause it to overfueling cos you ain't altering the mixture as such, the clean maybe as the float valve might not be seating now,
Also as the lads have said the float height might have been disturbed.

Was the bike running badly before going into the garage? If it was running fine, then they need to be fixing it FOC as it's evidently something that they have done while cleaning the carbs.

Surely it *has* to be down to them to put it right. They want £180 to look into a problem that they caused? Utter censoredcensored . If you get no joy on the phone or by phone, write them a letter of complaint and if that doesn't work then contact trading standards.

I've heard a couple of scare stories about some, shall we say "less than competant or good value" bike fixers in the county and for some unknown reason they stay in business, but they were not around the 'Ville.

Turn fuel off at tank, undo the float bowl drain screw on the offending carb and release fuel - make sure you have a small container underneath to catch drained petrol. Do this with the engine cold. Try and use a clean container and check drained fuel for contaminants.

When float bowl is empty, re-tighten drain screw, turn fuel back on at tank and start bike. When she's able to tick-over off choke, try GENTLY tapping the float bowl with something like the handle end of a screwdriver - it might, just, release any dirt that's lodged in there, but it's a long-shot. Got to be easier than stripping the carbs though...

All the best,

Rick @ 80bikes
