obalanga 0 Posted July 10, 2014 I got this 5 year old bike over x-mas so I do not know whether it is the original battery. My problem is after giving the battery a full charge it starts ok but after half an hour riding it will not start. Its been a progressive decline as a couple of months ago it would start 3-4 times before needing a charge. When I connect the voltmeter whilst the bike is running it reads 12.70 v creeping up very slowly. How do I diagnose whether it is a charging issue or need a new battery as they don't come cheap. fr499y 0 Posted July 10, 2014 If you fully charge the battery and leave it for a few days/week is it still fully charged ? Also you say when you been using it for say 30 minutes and stop, you can't start it, if the battery was dead or on its way out, you should still be able to start after a short ride, just not if left standing for a couple days/weeks. madsod 0 Posted July 10, 2014 whilst the bike is running it reads 12.70 v it should be 13.5 when the engine is running ,but could still be the battery
