now remember.. every few days.. the name of the chatting thread will change.. but just look for the latest posts. It's much quieter here though.. and you may find it empty many times. Not sure if that's because of the Holidays - or folk are having trouble finding us

Isn't it crazy?
We're so not geared up for any extreme in weather here.

That Slanket I scoffed at amongst my Christmas presents, may come in handy yet!
It certainly would've on NYE when we were stranded hey? congratulations

tell me about it! London Bridge was total nightmare - people running from platform to platform.

I managed to get on a train that was 45 minutes late (why? there was no snow in London at that point) and then walked home though dark park as I was not sure if busses were running this time

There was a message on our local train station announcing that tomorrow they will be revise timetable with first train leaving at 7am

hehe - make sure you carry a hipflask with something strong in your handback.

your OH is lucky that you could go and pick him up and it's good to hear you both got home safely (and that you finally have oil too!!)

Bee, Mr Zoonie travels in and out of London Bridge too, he said it was chaos on all the platforms and it continued to be chaos on the trains too - no one had any idea what was going on, including the driver!

There'd been problems earlier with trains stuck at a depot and also signalling failures.
Add staff going AWOL and the low temps giving points problems, and it doesn't take long for the whole chain to collapse!

Mind you, his train didn't turn up at 5.43 either (this morning) no notice, it was just cancelled.

Doesn't bode well for tomorrow - and there aren't any buses from here.

if there is situation like this - i always check live departures on the net for my local station before I leave house

can Mr Zoonie work from home if he can't get to work?

thats a must i think bee , i hope it doesnt get too bad my parents are in kenya at the moment and due to fly home monday , although i can think of worse places to be stuck x

*dreams of Kenya*!!!

We have the live departures page left open over night these days Bee, but because we're on such a long stretch and because he gets the first train, it isn't always accurate Sad

He gets the Hastings to Charing Cross train.

If he can't get in, he can't get in, but yes, he can do a certain amount from home. It's just the way it is.

at least they are nice and warm. It might be over by monday - or at least under control
I'm bit worried about tomorrow - january is mad at work with tax return deadline so near - I can't really afford not to go to work

i hope you can get into work bee , but i think if it gets really bad everyone will be in the same boat and noone will be going anywhere , it really is best to stay as safe as possible temps tomorrow they say could be as low as minus 6 and with the wind they think we may get a wind chill factor of minus 12 -15

Good Evening Everyone

Hi Boo, Hi Lea, how was the holiday? we were all thinking about you, and if you got off ok - it must be horrid to come back to this!

Evening BG.

Bee, I can understand you don't want to miss work, but the way things are, it's pretty much out of your hands really.

BOO I read about Craxton Wood

Boogie, I just spy you too - thanks for the FB message.

Keep meaning to enquire how your MIL is doing now?

We've all been so out of touch haven't we! Sad

I have a bit of a message to put on the Gift Registry thread, but don't want it to stay long,, so will post and then edit it out.

Holiday was great...apart from having the flight diverted to Birmingham as they closed Manchester airport Sad
Worse part is I live 10 miles away from Birmingham airport, but I had to wait for my partner to pick us up as he had already driven to Manchester to get us!

I hope everyone is keeping warm and safe in this horrendous weather!
