Jasmine 0 Posted April 7, 2014 Is God glorified when a self-neglecting person begins to practice self-care. I do not mean virtuous self-denial. I mean when a person does not practice much personal hygiene, has very messy living quarters, and is reluctant to take medication, even if they know it will help them. The Bible seems very unclear about this subject however it implies that people should take care of themselves. Ephesians 5:29 says, "For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church." In the first century, people didn't see depression as a real disease or something to worry about. In all likelihood, righteous people took care of themselves whenever they could.
