Bee1 0 Posted February 11, 2010 What do single people do on Valentine's Day? Valentine's Day is for couples. Do you think there should be a day for singles too? South Korea has one. Black Day (April 14) is a South Korean informal tradition for single people to get together and eat jajangmyeon (noodles with black bean sauce), sometimes a white sauce is mixed for those who did not celebrate White Day.The idea is that those who did not give or receive gifts on Valentine's Day (February 14) or White Day (March 14) can get together and eat jajangmyeon, white Korean noodles with black bean sauce (hence the name), to celebrate their singledom.I would like to hear your views - wether you are single or happy in love. kasijab 0 Posted February 11, 2010 I've been with my husband for 34 years now and he doesn't believe in valentines day ....so I still don't celebrate it !! Yes Valentine's day (similar to Christmas and Easter) has lost it's true meaning and now it's all about various companies making money. When I was in relationship (yes I recently became single after many years) we never went out to eat on 14th . I have worked in license trade/catering industry so I know some tricks companies get up to. Even shops - red rose on "normal day" would probably cost you about £1 but in run up to Valentine's Day you can pay up to £5 for same red rose and I don't think that people who grow them will get more money for their produce. kasijab 0 Posted February 11, 2010 I think valentines day meant more to me when my children were younger ..they would buy (their dad would !) little gifts to give ...and that meant a lot..nowadays we would rather stay home than pay the exorbitant rates that restaurants charge on that day ...and I have fresh flowers in my room most of the time ...even if I do buy them myself! RocLibrarian 0 Posted February 11, 2010 I think Valnetine's Day is stressful to people in relationships and not. People not in relationships feel bad for being single. People in relationships feel stressed about having to make the other person happy on V-Day, and living up to cultural expectations. As for flowers, I have to say that even though I know they cost more this time of year, I really love them. My husband usually dones't remember that I like romance, but on Valentine's he always buys me flowers -- so I don't want that to stop, really.
