Wish Fairy 0 Posted March 23, 2010 Wow...you know there are times when I REALLY love what PS can do. I have a neighbour who I met trading. I saw he missed last weeks items and I had a few spare so I sent them over - nothing special just some clothes, food and a plushie - he sent me about 15 TY notes and has just sent me a Stained Glass Panel!! I need to talk to them about it later.I wondered where you'd got to!I was just trying to work out the maths you see, try and see what's best.Presumably you can't sell the car while you still owe on it anyway? So, the book value of it working is £1,500 but it's going to cost at least $2,000 to fix? That way you're 'out of pocket' as it were, by how much you owe on it, plus the $500 difference, right? But - you then at least have a working car.You need to try and find out from the garage (workshop) if they think the car's going to stand you in good stead if you spent the money on it though...worst case would be spending that money, and then having something else go wrong down the line a little way.Otherwise, you try and get the money to pay off $X that you owe on the car, and then sell it, as it is, for about $500 - in which case you're out of pocket by $Y (whatever the figures add up to) and have no vehicle.Would that also mean you couldn't get a loan on replacing your car with another one?Actually, sorry, you might not want to talk about all this in the open here...just trying to help you work out the practical issues

Frannie 0 Posted March 23, 2010 I wonder why you UK girls have to do so much ironing. Is it that you don't use dryers? or that the fabrics are mostly 100% cotton. I love to iron, but there's just not much to do, except when I sew

Zoonie 0 Posted March 23, 2010 Marie - OH has asked me to look out the policy, so that's on my list for today.
cogsy 0 Posted March 23, 2010 Zoonie wrote:Marie - OH has asked me to look out the policy, so that's on my list for today. It should be covered, not worked in insurance for 2 years now, but should still be the same. Probably quicker to give them a ring, they may be able to send a builder to do the work and you wont have a bill to pay. Well thats how it use to work anyway. Zoonie 0 Posted March 23, 2010 Oh, I didn't think of that.Mind, I'm keen for the chap who's been working here to look at the leak, because of the bath being fully tiled in, and not having any spare tiles We know he's carefully and neat and he comes up with good solutions. We're with the Halifax and have been ever since we bought the house 9 years ago. Hope this helps a bit, and you get it fixed soon x
