most likely London Heathrow but I imagine it could also be London Gatwick - these are the only two that I know do longhaul flights (yes there are 3 more airports in London). I don't think he's ever been to Miami but I know he's been in US before (NY I know for sure) - he was looking at cost only but if I do Miami then I won't get a chance to do Washington DC (which now I want to do!)

Well Frannie offerd to meet me in Chicago in order to keep my costs down and not having to fly to Ohio but I too want to spend few days with her and I will be busy with Lenka when in Chicago - so I still want to go to Ohio. Thank goodness we have another 10 months to work this out Kijo suggested for me to go to hers first and then she would drive with me to yours but I guess that might depend on which day I would get there as she's busy during the week.

I have been talking about it with Mr B and he also said might be better to take train some of the journeys than greyhound coaches as he said you can walk and buy food. He also suggested to work out internal flights as and when needed once I'm on a country. He said to fly home from Miami as you can get flights from £299 but not sure if that's one way and inclusive of taxes. I got quoted about £600 inclusive of taxes for London - LAX and Jacksonville (via Washington) to London. I most likely won't book it through travel agent as I'm sure I can organise the flights myself for less (I presume there is some commission charge somewhere from travel agents).

they was I was thinking about it (but it's subject to change) was London - LA LA- Seatte Seattle - Ohio Ohio - Chicago (frannie said she would drive me there and show me around) Chicago - Jacksonville Jacksonville - Wahsington Washington - London now I need to fit Savannah in there somewhere and also most flights from Seattle to Ohio are via Chicago so do I change that (and save Frannie the drive?)

That's what I was thinking but the girl in travel agent was not sure if the ticket would allow it. As I said - I'm planning up to 3 weeks but not less than 2. I guess it will all depend on how I'm going to be getting around but I'm counting 2 days for travelling in and out of country. I will not be able to afford any other time off work so I might as well use most of my annual leave for this trip

it's least reliable in morning rush hour it has not been that bad recently but they tend to do repair work at the weekend - it's always announced well in advance and you would have bus replacement service. Overall public transport is a good and cheap way to get around and we are lucky to even have night buses to get home - they don't run as much as regular buses but still cover large part of London.

they have the open top one for turists and you have a guide who tells you what you seeing - not sure how much it cost. The closed ones are running all over London - hundreds of them going different routes and if you know where you going (of someone tells you) you can use them do do your sightseeing at fraction of cost of guided tour - just get "travelcard" - it's a ticket that s valid on all buses, trains, underground and tram in London for a day or how ever long you buy it for ( 3 days, week, month, year) - it's very good value for money if you are getting around a bit.

That's true and yes good idea would be to read up on it on the internet to see what would you like to see when here. There are some things that most of tourists would do - Buckingham Palace (where the Queen lives), Leicester Square with Nelson's collumn, Big Ben and Westminster Abbey with Houses of Parliament, Picaddily Circus (with statue of Eros), Tower Bridge and Tower of London (need to go inside to see crown jewells). St Paul's Cathedral (never been inside myself). These are things that everyone tell you you must see when in London even though I would give Leicester Square and Picadilly Circus a miss as they are not that intetesting in my opinion. Lots of museums and some galleris are free to go in though.

Iguess that all depend on what kind of things you want to see/are interested in. If you happy to see famous buildings from outside and don't have the need to go in then it would save lots of cash. I don't know how the admission prices compare to US but you are looking at average of £15 per person per palce but I'm sure there will be things you might want to give a miss - Madamme Taussauds being one of them (£23 per person) but there are discounts you could use - for example if you take a train (which you probably will unless you stay somewhere in central London) you could get 2 for 1 on some attractions. Went to Tower of London with Mr B like that few moths ago

thank you Tanya - you have no idea how much I appreciate all the kindness and help from all of you. Just the idea that you are willing to let me - a stranger - to you homes is so overwhelming and heart touching - I will want to re-pay you in some way! I really don't mind where you live as I don't go to see your place exclusively - the fact that you (and Kijo most likely) are going to be there is the most important factor. I could happily sleep in a tent in a garden if I get to finally meet you
