It wasn't a soap opera called "Passions"? There was a witch who was half evil/half nice named Tabitha. She had a doll named Timmy that she brought to life. There was an orangutan nurse-yes a nurse, because she was cheaper than a human nurse. The orangutan also had a crush on a human named Luis. Here are some pics:
