who likes going to the dentist?

Recommended Posts

i went to the dentist a couple of weeks ago and it was not a very good experience.
it was in fact quite painful..... BUT that is all my fault!! let me explain..

when i was young i went to the dentists allllll the time and every time, it was very painful. every cleaning, every cavity (and i had a lot!!), every single time. i dreaded it. so, as an adult, i decided not to go! i know i know....very irresponsible of me! in any case, i went a couple weeks ago and although they were very nice, it hurt as always.

the funny part of this whole long story is that i asked, "Are you going to be putting any sharp objects in my mouth??" Well, that sent the whole office rolling. one by one they filled in to laugh at what i said. it's a very small office so EVERYONE heard me. i realize how stupid of a question it was, but i asked anyway!

so embarrassed!

There is no need to be embarrassed by asking a "dumb" question. Every single human has a phobia from dentists and it's totally natural.

My uncle works as a dentist and he's the best one in the area. He earns a lot of money and I am so proud to have him as an uncle. I am always patient at his dentists office and always know that everything will go well. That's why I have forgotten the fear from dentists. Hugs Smile

I try and go every six months. I went for a number of years without and I had constant tooth aches. It was that way because I had no insurence. Now I live in a place where that's mandatory, so I go.

It could affect our insurence if we don't go. I like that it's mandatory, it's preventative medicine and having been in a situation once upon a time where dental wasn't covered, I welcome it gladly.

I love the dentist....Im one of those wier people who just adore going....I lov the smell so much haha....Yh im so wierd,.

I only like going cause of the smell and the fact that i have sedation everytime i go, so that i dont feel the pain.

Id rather have a needle in my arm then im my mouth....Thats how wierd i am LOL.

but i totally love it cause when you have it done...Its like....Like.....Well i cant explain it but people who have had sedation will know what i mean...

Its like you dont care whats going on around you and your floating on air. Everyone could be fighting around you and you wouldnt care.

its that good haha

Anyways...listen to me rambling on haha.......

Ohh that reminds me..I actually need to book into the dentist haha

Actually the last time I was at the dentist was only a couple of months ago. Although it was due to a really bad tooth ache, as it turns out I had an abscess tooth that needed a route-canal and it was a good thing I went in because the infection was really bad. So I ended up having to go back three times because of the infection the freezing wouldn't work so I had to deal with the pain as if I hadn't had freezing but what was even worse was they had to use 8 needles of freezing to just attempt to make it not hurt. So I could barely move my mouth for a few hours.

I actually had to wear braces for three years of my junior high life lol, so I'm very fortunate to have nice teeth, and I do take really good care of them so thankfully I haven't had too many cavities either. I even have all my wisdom teeth still. So I never before really feared the dentist, but don't get me wrong I don't enjoy it either.

I was so happy that when I took my kids in after my recent work was done to find that they have no cavities and actually very good healthy teeth.

@Kathy, I never thought to bring my mp3 player in but thats a great idea!! I can never stand the tv screens they have in the office so that would be a great distraction. Music gets me through everything!
