lea75 0 Posted June 1, 2010 An American woman who tried to cover scars from a skin disorder with body art has been named as the world's most tattooed woman.Julia Gnuse, 55, from California, had her first tattoo placed on her leg to hide marks from porphyria, a condition that can make the skin blister when exposed to light. As the disorder spread, so did the tattoos, until she "got addicted" and ended up covered head-to-toe in jungle scenes, cartoons and her favourite actors. The woman, who decorated 95% of her body with ink, has now been handed a Guinness World Record, the Daily Mail reported."I did this for the reason of covering scarring from the blisters. They get as deep as three degree burn," she was quoted as saying at a New York book fair."I had a friend who is a plastic surgeon, who suggested tattooing my skin the same colour to the scarring that I had, seeing if we can match my just pale-looking skin that I had."That didn't work. We tried it. It was very difficult to match that. So I had the idea of a colourful tattoo, then I got hooked. I got addicted."While medication is available for Miss Gnuse's condition, it could damage her sight and she refuses to take it.Every one of the her designs was created by the same tattoo artist. bunnyfuzzyness 0 Posted June 1, 2010 very awesome!I have a few tattoos, but none that anyone can really ever see.I think some of my older christian patients would finish off their stroke or heart attacks,if they thought this nice southern nurse had OMG ink on her body.Love this woman and her efforts to beat her disease in her own way!
