Davehutch-hutchs 0 Posted February 15, 2011 After my threads on Brakes and Hagon springs i sent my suzuki garage a email>Hi all , Its Dave Hutchings here I will be bringing my bandit in soon for a service and mot any time after the 25th, There is a couple of questions, I have done 3,000 miles since last service , How much will this one be with a mot ? How much to fit Hagon springs ? let me know if you want me to get them or if you want to , if you do how much to supply and fit ? How much to fit hel lines to the front ? same again let me know if you want me to get them or if you want to, if you do how much to supply and fit?And i thought i would have some new pads front and rear not going for sintered but a good quality and thought you would have them anyway , so how much for them supplied and fitted , Look forward to your reply, Cheers Dave There reply :Hi DaveYour bike only needs the small service this time so your sevice & MOT should be around £150 inc vatwe can supply & fit the Hagon springs for £125 inc vatwe have had issues with HEL hoses and chris is very reluctant to fit themwe can supply a front Goodridge hose kit for £115 fittedWe use EBC brake padsWe usually fit the sintered pads to the front of a 1200 bandit , the cost is £72 inc vat fitted or £58 if you want the organic pads.Rear pads are the organic type and are £41 inc vat fittedthe above prices assume that your calipers are in good condistion and do not require extensive stripping/ cleaning.please contact us when you wish to book your bike in as we would need a few days notice to order the springs and hoses if needed. smilinjack 0 Posted February 15, 2011 Fitting Hagon springs looks a reasonable charge, prob works out at around £40-45 the actual fitting.Brake pad fitting looks a bit dear to me. IIRC a set of front pads is around £25, so looks like a charge close to £40 for fitting. Not bad for half an hour's work. BTW suppliers normally advise fitting same pad type front AND rear. HEL hoses-not sure what issues they might be. I think all HEL hoses have stainless banjo fittings and seem well received in the press and internet community as a whole. £115 fitted for Goodridge prob means paying them around £50 labour.Service & MoT-small service is a glorified oil change & fluid check which they appear to be charging you around £90 for, maybe more (I assumed £35 for the test)Depends how important a stamp in your service booklet is to you. All in that comes to pretty much £500 by my reckoning. A monkey for that little lot is not exactly robbery, but the fact is you & I could do all of that other than the MoT test and I only charge by the bacon butty, not the hour. Potential saving on labour in the region of minimum £150 I'd suggest, quite possibly more.

dick65 0 Posted February 15, 2011 ive never tackled forks before i know there four spanners in the haynes manual but so were my calipers which ive just overhauled seems a bit pricey though.
jezza 0 Posted February 15, 2011 forks are fairly simple, i'd never done them before but i bit the bullet and had a go following the haynes manual .I got it all done within a couple of hours and back on the road this was fitting hagon springs and new fork seals, if your fairly mechanically minded it hould be no problem at all. dick65 0 Posted February 15, 2011 maybe i should give them a go,i could upgrade the springs for the cash saved hmm- cheers jezza you got me thinking now.
pugeyed 0 Posted February 15, 2011 i did it on mine dick, very easy, just remember to undo the bottom allen key bolts before you loosen the top cap, plenty of people on here to give you a hand if you get stuck.oh and ps they are the seals ive fitted on mine, seem very good quality Mark.
jezza 0 Posted February 15, 2011 just buy a peice of plastic tube from a hardware store that you slide over the fork tube to help tap the seal into position otherwise the tools are for sale on ebay, this is for a 1200 but a search may turn up one for a 600/650 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fork-oil-seal-driver-43mm-tool-Suzuki-bandit-GSF-1200-/250771483171?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item3a63252a23
