smilinjack 0 Posted February 27, 2011 I've reinstalled O/S (Vista) on my desktop again this weekend after further problems and thought I'd put a spare drive to good use by installing Ubuntu and giving it a whirl. Early days but I rather like it. Nice feel and GUI, and of course open source so free, and largely virus proof. Certainly compared to Billy boy's overpriced tat.Anyone else used it and if so, what's your opinion?

OK sorry, quick translation O/S = Operating SystemBilly boy = Bill Gates, Microsoft owner.GUI = Graphical User Interface. Open source=no charge for software, it's all free to download & modify as you see fit. Mozilla's Firefox web browser is one such example.Linux=different operating system to Windows. It works differently leaving it far less open to attack from Trojans & other viruses. The particular "model" I tried is called Ubuntu. It feels more like an Apple Mac to use.And I'm 53 so it's not an age thing folks I guesss looking at the initial responses I'm not going to get much feedback on here!
