Should I be worred ?

Recommended Posts

Her who should be obeyed and I got reminders from DVLA yesterday that our photo driving licenses need renewing by 16th May.

Just had a flick through I think It's free DIY or £20 at the nearest Post Office 8 mile away.

We all know the horror stories of loseing entitlements etc, affraid
Anyone done this recently and was all well ?

If you stump up £40 for two do they guarantee everything will be ok.

Got to send both parts and we will photocopy everything but heard they don't accept this in disputes and Don't accept any mistakes they make.

Hope I'm worrying about nothing and they've got their act together. scratch

Think you'll find it's 10 years. The only reason they are not indefinite is the obvious one-your appearance changes over time, like a passport. Smile

Believe you can do it online now as well without sending the old one off.....as long as you've got one of the new style passports, they take the picture off the passport records.
Shows how much different departments swop information

you can renew your licence online if you have a passport as they import your photo from that. If I post my licence, I usually make 2 photo copies. I keep one copy myself and send the other off with the licence

OK done it online as we have the new style passports £20 each thats £40 didn't expect to spend this weekend.

You do tick a box to promise to cut both parts in two and send them backto DVLA.
Which I will do, but not untill I get the new ones back and check everything OK.

Update..
Credit where Credit is due got both licenses back today 5th May, very very quick and all ok,
so answer to my question No don't worry all will be OK.

My Tip If you've got the new style passports as we have, do it online and keep your old one so you can check against the new ones(no argument if you have the originals).
My old ones' now cut in two and in the post back to DVLA as promised.
