Tony nitrous 0 Posted November 3, 2012 They're cheaper than that in the US.Not sure how the UK gets on with ordering from the US ?Here in AU when we order from oversea'swe dont pay your VAT and there's no import tax this end under $1000AU.If I get Renthals (for example) sent out to AUusing cheap (slower) postage, they cost me less than if I walk into the shop in the UK. ptolemyx 0 Posted November 5, 2012 UK customs are clever bar stewards. They're just as likely to realise the "gift" item isn't a gift and you'll never get it and/or be questioned....possibly worse if you are a "serial offender". Probably better to accept the 20% import duty/VAT Old and Disgraceful
Tony nitrous 0 Posted November 6, 2012 No problems here buying from the US.Aussie $ is at a record high against the US $.I can buy 2 Yoshi can's, delivered to my door for less than the cost of buying one localy.LOTS of folk are buying from the US, its that bad that companys like Yoshi and Pazzo are threatening to not supply to US dealers who send to AU. No one is using the Official importers. Its killing many bike shops, but to be honest, there were too many anyway and most couldnt telltheir arse from their elbow so no great loss. Tony nitrous 0 Posted November 28, 2012 Customs arent stupid, and I agree that there's a limiton what you can pass off as gifts or sneak through. We are quite lucky with our tax free $1000/650 pounds limits.Seen folk bring quite a bit of stuff in,dummy invoice with cargo and real one posted seperateand splitting parcels up and keeping each parcel down belowthe $1000 limit have both been done.Even small values will get customs attention if you bring enough in,some folk import under several family/friendsnames and addresses so as not to appear as trade. Its a funny world when I can buy stuff and getit delivered to my door here cheaper than if I walked into the shop in the UK... Postage to AU is less than the VAT i no longer haveto pay in the UK as its being exported.
