No more Pontiac by 2010!

Recommended Posts

As the likelihood of General Motors’ Chapter 11 filling is increasing, the struggling auto maker has officially announced that its Pontiac vehicle brand will be scrapped by 2010. The auto maker has also revealed that it will be cutting a total of 21,000 jobs in an effort to reduce cost. It will also reduce its dealer network from 6,246 dealers it had in 2008 to 3,605 by 2010. On top of that, General Motors also plans to sell, or if it does not turn out well, shut down its other vehicle brands including Saab, Hummer and Saturn. Lets just hope that all these measures taken by General Motors will return expected benefits

GM cars nowadays have same underpinnings, only different exterior, so like they're selling the same car with different badge, by trimming down the excess brand, I don't thing they going to loose anything...

That online blog or block may not have a taste for Pontiacs and most probably may not know the history of it, otherwise he/she will not be too quick to condemn it. Crappy cars??? There're more crappier cars out there than the Pontiacs. Can we say the Pontiac Firebird any crappier than, say, the 2007 Rolls Royce Phantom??? Don't get me wrong i've got nothing against Rolls Royce, it is the ultimate but they still comes out with crappy designs. Yeah, i can agree earlier Pontiacs looks a bit crappy but they have improved over the years. Look at the pictures and it's all there to be seen. Cheers.

Well at least for me, I like the '77 Pontiac Trans Am, the sexiest ever, and I like it more when it appears in Smokey & The Bandit Movies, damn really hot car, killer look with the Flaming Chicken logo.....

That's Burt Reynolds right there who played Bandit in Smokey & The Bandit movie...

Mmmmm, flaming Chicken on the hood.....

The latest one that I like is the Pontiac GTO, although similar to the Australian Holden Monaro and Vauxhall Monaro, but in looks department, Pontiac Wins.

Fadli85, thanks for the photos, yup the Pontiacs that they used for IROC are cool. I like the Pontiac Firebird IROC (HW 2001 #121), a very sleek looking car. Older Pontiacs have the headlights or whole front panel recessed in against later models, can't remember too many cars have that feature and it's distinctive, however I like the 1969 Pontiac Firebird most (HW 2005 Realistix FE#5). Help to post some pictures pls if you can, I'm a bit of a computer illiterate.

Check out the link below to see one of their sleek models:-

From WikiAnswer

Pontiac (the Michigan city and the GM auto brand) is spoken as "PONT-ee-akk". (rhymes with "font we lack")

A 1986 Maisto : Pontiac Firebird bought from "Yaohan" supermarket which no longer exist. Looks similar to the real car posted by Fadli85 in Smokey & The Bandit movie except the eagle on the bonnet looks exaggerated. The car suspension is superb and cushy.
