loon 0 Posted August 2, 2009 Have your parcel ever been hold by kastam? How you settle it without taxed? If you don't have invoice, how to settle it?
jhc7598 0 Posted August 2, 2009 i am a newbie in this "buying from oversea" thingy, but i had received about 10-15 parcel from oversea, and never had being hold by kastam.. If the price of the items inside too much, the kastam will hold them. so every time i order items, i ask the seller put a way cheaper price on the form, and also mark them as a gift..that is how i avoided taxes, as many ppl told me to do that way..if got hold, so must pay the taxes la, i think... sinclair 0 Posted August 2, 2009 Only one time my parcel got tahan by kastam, coz the seller too smart and put a very high value on the parcel, probably coz thinking of insurance claims. Had to go to KLIA to clear the item and convince the officer that the cars' retail price in Malaysia only RM6 each, hehe. Lucky had another guy lining up also said this Hotwheels and Matchbox very cheap one then managed to get the box without any tax. But boy, travelling to KLIA was troublesome. Now I make sure I tell the seller to state the actual purchase value and I always don't buy more than RM500 at a time, so no more problems.

You parcel look 'suspicious' to them then. Probably not gettting the seller declare it way too low compared to size of the box.Btw yeah i got parcel detained before, thanks to ebay seller who shipped mine through normal airmail though i paid for ems rate, basically due to seller not wanting to lose much since i sniped his auction. High valued parcel normally would make it through if it's shipped via ems, but still has certain limit above that parcel got to be taxed.

sinclair 0 Posted August 2, 2009 I think our values are puny compared to big importers. I don't think customs will bother with us.
chee keng hong 0 Posted August 2, 2009 Hmm.. never b4 had dealing with overseas purchase! Thats great info to learn from u all pro! Thanks.
danielh 0 Posted August 3, 2009 once i've forgot to advice overseas seller to put it at lower price or tagged as gift and had to go to post office in sepang all the way to collect my 1:18 scales evo 8. had to pay extra RM 20 if i'm not forgotten cause the parcel seems yoo heavy.. . So next time , when you purchase from overseas make sure to ask them declared at lower price or as a gift. But tagged as gift will put those kastam suspicious on bigger parcel. For me no problem on small parcel.

redkop 0 Posted August 3, 2009 Confined it to no more than 25 cars and you'll most probably be safe and seller returning you the favour of declaring it no more than USD 50.00.
