REMINISCE THREAD...FOR WORD NERDS OLD AND NEW !! PLEASE COME IN

Recommended Posts

So for the newer members here - when you have an hour or so of free time - you might want to read this thread.

This is what happened when a venue absolutely refused to allow cameras or videos on the Declaration Tour... when we were left to our own devices to entertain ourselves. Kidnapping, pornstaches, avi and title changes... it's a flipping hysterical read.

I missed most of it, but remember coming in the next morning before work, and heading to the show thread, and wondering WTF had happened at the show that we had 26 pages of posts overnight. Then I started reading... and started laughing so hard I was crying.

The best part was that Daina actually sent David a link to the thread on his myspace messages - and it got read. Now did he actually read the thread? We have no way of knowing for sure... but the next night the venue again was supposed to have a no camera rule... and oddly enough they backed off and allowed them. Wink

It's a fun read... everyone should check it out when they have time.

I'm going to check that out!

LOL Face My real life name is very unusual, so if he sang it, I'd KNOW he was singing to me.

When I was a little girl, I used to watch "Romper Room." For those who remember, at the end the teacher would hold up her "magic mirror" and say, "I see Johnny, and Mary, and..." I told my mom that she was obviously just saying names, because she never said mine. My mom called the TV station, and a few days later Miss Barbara was naming her names and said, "And I see [Jeannie's real name.] I was suddenly convinced that mirror was magic. lol

Well, my name (Madelon) is in a French hymn but I doubt David will ever sing that LOL flag

Speaking of names, I'm pretty sure Dave (or maybe Monty) has said my name AT LEAST once.... specially when they're hungry, like:

"I'm starving, I want dinna!" Razz

If only I could just instantly show up in front of him and say: "hi, you want me?" LOL flag

David said my name in a KCRadio.com interview and I almost cried. My name is not very common and someone with the same name called into the station and he repeated her name. I had a spazz attack.

I remember David saying my name a couple of times that would be cause my name is so popular Rolling Eyes but i remember in a interview long time ago they asked what his first kiss was like and the girl that told him he was a bad kisser (still dont know what she was on) was the same name as me . So now he probley hates my name .

The only song I know of with my name on is Stacy's Mom has got it going on, lol. So it'd be like he was singing about my mom, not me.

Well, since a link to the pornstachetastic thread was posted, how about another very early classic thread? One of the first long-running innuendo threads. The ipod thread from three years ago this month!

Some hilarously funny stuff, imo. Especially since at first, it was totally innocent... but the mods quickly started making an innuendo out of his ipod, but very subtly, as an inside joke, then ramping up the obviousness of the innuendo little by little, watching each person catch on, lol.

Does anyone know if some of the old threads from AI Forums were ever saved someplace, or archived? I'm just curious. I know the photo threads kept getting killed because, well, ya know. But any other threads? Did anyone ever save any of them?

Well, the original Signal & Sentiments thread was saved... in the book that we gave David. And I copied a lot of the "David Cook is so hot, ____(fill in the blank)" thread and put it in a thread by the same name here. But I think that's it.

Thanks Stacy. I wish we had some of the original PB threads. Those were fun. But then there were so many good threads that I would love to revisit. Like I would like to revisit the night he did Hello or Billie Jean. It was fun seeing everyone freak out over those. Oh well, it is always in my memories, faded though they may be. lol

Yeah, the first two or so PB threads were really great stuff. I wish we had that and the thread that was just a running commentary on everything. No recollection what it was called but it was just a chatting thread and it would have all our reactions to each week's song in it. The night he did Hello, though, was before there was a DC folder on the AI forum. Only after the top 12 were named did he (and the other 11) get his own folder. The night of Hello was the first night I got on the forum, though, and I remember a day or two later when they made his folder and we started filling it up with threads. Fast. lol.

I also wish we had the thread where Jody chose his outfit for Eleanor Rigby and then us all freaking out over it, white belt and all. R.I.P., Jody. Crying

One of my favorite memories on this site was staying up for half the night after AI tewer shows to see videos. Hello, TOML, I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing, My Hero, Billie Jean... and THE MAVID DANCE! Dancin Smiley

I swear, I still can't hear PDSTM and not think of that tour.

Me too! It's hard for me to enjoy that song when I know that David would break into convulsions whenever he heard that song lol

Stacy, my first night was the night of Hello too. I did a google search for his name and that is how I ended up on AI website. I had to find out who the hell this guy was that did that song that night. I was so blown away. I wanted to know more about him.

Some of the old threads are still there. But I don't remember which ones.

I spent so much time on those concert threads and cellcasts that I got absolutely nothing done all summer! lol

Ohhhh, I just remembered "plethora" too!

As a test to see if David actually read the AI boards, I posted a thread titled "Did you hear what Raine Maida said about David?" to draw him in and then asked him to play a game with us and to use the word "plethora" in his next interview. And then the next day he used it in two separate interviews! I was DYING that day!

Me neither! I spent an unprecedented amount of time on my laptop that summer. I think that's what ultimately did that computer in... LOL Face

*sigh*

The late...late...LATE nights during the AI tour. Closing my eyes and trying to picture myself there...... I still, to this day, laugh everytime I hear PDSTM. Remembering all those MAVID dances.

Oh, man. I so remember staying up till way past midnight waiting for someone to post Mavid and other video's. I had to work the next day, but I couldn't pull my self away. We would get updates and video's and pics all night long.

Yup no sleep that summer either. But Good God, such great memories and fun!

It is from the old AI forums-there were so many posts but I did find the quote of her original post after the appearance of the "white belt".

It was fun going back-I logged in and found I joined on May 24.2008 as I lurked the whole season as I never knew of fandoms or message boards before David! Laughing

Hard to believe but one year ago today was night one of Busch Gardens. This was the first time I got to meet Barb, Stacy, Peggy, Barbs and a few others. The first time we heard Paper Heart. The first WNH livestream. Such wonderful memories! Awww Love

Thought I'd post a few of my pictures (though they are by no means great pictures like some of our photographers get.)

I can't believe it's been a year! I swear it feels like you all were just in my living room laughing, talking and anticipating two great days of David.

Things I remember about that road trip....

The heat OMFG I felt like I was melting

David looking so happy to be on stage again.

The huge enthusiastic crowd!

Paper Heart WOOHOO for new music!

The mysterious sound check song that turned out to be REM. It's funny that the album title came from that song. I actually picked a line of lyrics from that sound check in the title contest. I chose "Trying To Get Back" or something like that.

The guys in suits and me thinking they were crazy because it was so hot.

All the beautiful guitars on that stage.

Stacy stripping in the car.

Waking up to a really noisy AC unit at 3 am and beating it until the noise stopped.

Good friends, great road trip, laughter and amazing music.

Oh yeah and those pants.

Such good times!! The Niagara show - so much fun meeting everyone, freezing our asses off out by the bus for no reason, Jan's surprise birthday party, meeting Neal and Kyle. Hanging out all night at a bar with friends. Good, good times!!

And Busch Gardens was one of my favorite ever shows. Such a great reunion with people I'd met during tour; & meeting a whole bunch of people I've talked to on line with for over a year, but never met in person! The shows were great music, great energy, and EPIC banter. Afterward, meeting up with everyone and going to dinner, getting a table for 15 w/seperate checks, looking at everyone's pictures and videos, catching up with old and new friends. Reliving the fantastic days we had all just experienced. I miss tour!!! Crying non-stop
