Grumpyowl 0 Posted February 13, 2012 Well it's in the news again and I'd just like to put my 2 penneth in.I'm no saint I have a short temper I shout and swear a lot and I'm a bad person because I'm fat and despite working for 39 years and paying taxes they wont want to spend money on me because being fat is self inflicted. BUT i have 2 daughters (grown up now)and I would be the first in the que knocking down walls to get them a transplant if they needed it.So the question should be..Are you prepared to accept a organ transplant for you or yours ?IF YES then you should be on the register as NOT being on the register (except for medical reasons)Means your not entitled to one.Only my opinion mind. For this reason Ive been a blood donar for 14 years as well. dick65 0 Posted February 13, 2012 my dad had a kidney transplant in the 70s sadly it was early days into renal research and the transplant failed,id gladly donate an organ if it would help save a life
RichardH 0 Posted February 13, 2012 As a foot note, it's no good just going on the list as when you croak it, your family has the final veto, so if it's what you REALLY want let your family know!Foot note 2 I keep offering to share my organ with people and they keep getting the police round? jezza 0 Posted February 14, 2012 this should be a list that you opt out of not that you opt into , everyone should became an eligible donor at a certain age say 18 and if they do not wish to be a donor they should be on a register to say they do not wish their organs to be used after their death. My thoughts on it anyhow!

Fallen Angel 0 Posted February 14, 2012 Interesting this one. I would like to give blood and am very keen that everything that can be used, if anything happens to me, is used. I've made this clear to my partner and family. The NHS for reasons which I and many others consider to be BS. Now I'm not going to explain all the reasons here as they're personal but I'd be interested to hea the opinion of someone who desperately needed my blood or organs.Makes me both anger and sad that the decision isn't down to the person most likely to benefit. BanditMike 0 Posted February 14, 2012 Agree with all the above Have told the girlfriend and parents etc that if I'm at that point, switch the machine off and give what can be used to whoever needs it. Been a blood donor for a while now, also on the bone marrow register as well. Need to pick up donating blood again though, lapsed a bit recently.
