smilinjack 0 Posted June 29, 2013 Just got the MoT done on my ZZR, Speedy on charge, forecast for tomorrow looks decent, so I'm going to continue my unofficial Egon Ronay tour of the Peak District sampling breakfast butties. I'm going to try the Village Green at Eyam. Anyone interested in a steady, largely B road, bimble let me know. I''ll be rolling at about 9 in the morning. smilinjack 0 Posted June 30, 2013 Right, well, today didn't quite go to plan. I was a bit late starting out, and the traffic was hanging, due in no small part to the hordes of MAMILs out riding three abreast and, in my view, deliberately holding up traffic. Throw in an unexpected police "escort" into Cromford, buses even on B roads, and it was second gear tedium a lot of the way. So I arrived at the Village Green cafe dead on 12 o clock to be told they'd just stopped doing breakfasts Back on the bike to nip round to the Grindleford Station Cafe "we don't do mushrooms so don't ask" ordered a bacon egg & mushroom butty got bacon & egg at least. Possibly the smallest fried egg I've seen that wasn't actually a pimple, but it was decent enough tasting, and not too greasy. Interesting place and plenty of bikes there, so I'd say worth doing at least once to say you've done it, no more than. I'd score it 6/10. Coffee & butty came to £4.45. From there had a very slow ride over Snake Pass back through Glossop & Chapel, back road through Edale and finished up visiting family in Sheffield.

smilinjack 0 Posted July 7, 2013 You've seen my brekkie elsewhere today, but I'm attaching a (slightly blurred) pic of the Windy Ridge menu for your delectation. They do a Gutbuster breakfast for those of you with a penchant for that sort of thing. Not only is it a top cafe but there are various excellent ways of getting there. I propose a ride there on my next available weekend date, long way round of course, so give me your views guys. I'll do the route, all you need is a full tank & empty belly.
