In 2 weeks I've inherited a lot of tasks

Recommended Posts

I'm a little under the weather....a little bit of bronchitis, but I've inherited a lot of wonderful tasks. I just want to be able to keep up. I feel asleep sitting up while I was crocheting a present last night. I need some strength. Can you guys pray for me, I have a couple of needs:

- I inherited a Youth Group of one two weeks ago. It's only one young lady at this time, but she's such a precious girl and I want to do my best to help her with anything she needs. I want her to have peers in the Youth Group, but I don't know the first thing about building a Youth Group. Do I have to learn how to dance? Ha! I've sure been thinking about that, but being a single mom is draining and makes me scatterbrained.

- I signed up for two college classes to defer my student loans for the Spring. I had e-mailed another college professor a long time ago to sign up for his class (before I had selected the two classes), and I just got an e-mail from this other professor saying that he added me into this third class. These are three very challenging classes, English, Collegiate Algebra, and Philosophy. I'm exhausted thinking about them already.

- The pastor at my church handed me a church job to do this week. It took me about 10 hours to complete and I think he's putting me in charge of the administrative portion of the food-bank there.

I just want to be able to handle the promotion! Praise God for promotion....I just need some help to pray for the organization skills and energy to accomplish it. I'm a master at details, but I truly stink at multi-tasking....I freeze. God bless you all.

It sounds like you have WAY TOO much on your plate Christa...in my opinion. Just because it's a "good" thing to do, doesn't mean it's the "right" thing to do. Your prayer should be that God give you "wisdom" on what to take on right now and what to leave off until later. You are still a mother...that is your main priority!

Just my most humble opinion...praying for ya!

~Christa,

The first thing I thought of was "He will not bring you to it if He won't bring you through it". This may be something He wants you to go to Him with. I agree with Cholette this is a lot on the load of a single Mom. You may be given the tasks but God is the one that determins those things you should be doing now. I would seek the council of the Lord on these matters and pray for wisdom and discernment as to the direction He wants you to take. I would thank everyone for their faith in you and that you will have to prayerfully consider each option. I think most would respect that. Don't do a thing untill Jesus tells you. I have a habit of getting a bit overloaded myself and every time it is because I did not ask Him first. OOOPS my bad there. Next thing you know I am like overwhelmed and on my knees going.....what happened Lord? He is like did you ask me? So there you see what I mean. When He is behind it you are not tired or overwhelmed but overjoyed in the task.

Love in Jesus,

Connie~

I totally agree with Cholette and Connie! As a single mom also (and caretaker of an elderly parent), I struggle with balancing and prioritizing commitments - there is so much that I would like to be involved in and have often found myself overextended, so much to do and so little time. I've had to learn the hard way to downsize my responsibilities and to really think long and hard before committing to something to ensure that I'm not overextended, aka stressed out, always running late, not spending enough time much less quality time with my family, forgetting what I commited to, irritable, and a host of other things... duh ... so I need to make sure that once I commit to something that I can complete it, complete it in a way that honors God (Colossians 3:17), and complete it in a way that doesn't interfere with my primary ministry, i.e., my family.

I will pray that you will be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.

Blessings,

Lurdys

Thanks for that Lurdys. I've decided to drop the math class and the pastor and his wife are simplifying the food bank thing to where I'd have to only do about 3 hours of work a month on it....instead of 8-10 hours. I'll no longer be going to the food bank to help out on Wednesdays because it conflicts with my class.

Thanks for all of your help you guys. I wasn't aware that it was too much until I saw what you guys saw. I feel a little bit lighter already :) God bless Ya'll
