2010 Chat - January (part 2)

Recommended Posts

OK.. so for those of you who were wondering,, and those who weren't .. I am now on insulin injections. I will titrate up until we hit hypoglycemia.. and then start reducing the doses. The hope is that within 6-9 months, I can get off it and give the pancreas a chance to make enough insulin naturally and that my cells will be less resistant than they are now

I've never been able to drink 1,5L on one day. But I made some tea again, it's about 1L, and if I really make an effort, I'm able to drink it all. It does give me more energy too. don't know why but sometimes I can't put myself to it.

I guess it's easier in summer when it's hot and you get thirsty quicker and now that's it cold - you can use your tea to warm you up - instead of making one big pot - make a cup/mug at a time so it will help to warm you up but don't force yourself to drink - everyone needs different amount of fluids to function but you need to drink some as your body is about 65% water and if the level of fluids go down a lot it affects the way your brain function affecting your concentration, level of your energy etc. (well I've read it somewhere)

True, in summer it's much more easier then now when it's cold.
I like making one big pot, so I don't have to run downstairs all the time, little chance of me getting distracted at the moment

Frannie, I hope everything gets under control!!

BG, what were you singing? congratulations

Nothing but good
I actually was playing Guitar Hero on Nintendo DS and got stuck playing 'Ruby' the entire time. But then I replaced Ruby with Zoonie and it was more fun congratulations (Kijo tried to make me sing Joki in stead of Ruby, but that didn't work out at all lol)

Perfect!

Ruby is Zoonie's special theme tune, naughty Kijo.

I'm considering purchasing a giant vat on wheels full of arnica gel and making Kijo sit in it all the time Laughing

I've been much better lately (except for the spontaneous magical injuries) although life is MORBIDLY boring now. Seriously, the best thing I have to look forward to every day is what kind of hot pocket I packed to eat.

Hello Frannie and Dawn

Yes Tanay - we are also told to drink plenty of fluids before blood donation or blood test as it (IMO) helps the blood flow better.

There is new thing now here in UK and while you waiting for a free bed to donate you have to drink a pint of water - they say it helps with the fluid loss.

Really? No one has ever told me that, but glad you guys tell me this now!
I never drink enough fluids in one day (started with a lot of tea a couple of weeks ago, but gave up already Ashamed )

Yes, drinking LOTS of water helps (avoid things like coffee, and too much soda) and eating 30 minutes before also helps out as well.

Oh just found out we have inspections today.... I should find a name tag and spruce up real quick!!!

frannie
hope it will be all fine very soon

tanya - those are really nice! *drool* I need to kick my butt in place and send you some pics like I promised ages ago but tonight I need to go to SW class - I normally go on wednesday but that clashes with my blood donation so I have to find different class tonight, then I have my grocery delivered (kitchen empty after chrsitmas/new year) but (in case anyone is ineterested) since I have started with SW last year in November I've lost 10 pounds (about 4.5 KG) and I feel great and lots of my clothes is loose now

wonderful... when I was losing - the poundage never really meant a lot to me, until at the point I lost 18 pounds I picked up an 18 pound bag of dog food. Then the notion really hit. I highly recommend you find sometihng which weighs the amount you lost, you'll be amazed!!!!!

Well, I usually can eat before I have to get my blood drawn to check up liver values and RA and stuff, but now I couldn't, because I decided it was time again for a complete check up. We do that once in one year.

Hot pockets is a name brand food here, where you have food (like cheese and meat) stuffed into a piece of bread.

Yesterday I had like a white chicken Pizza one... where it was chicken, and lots of yummy cheese, and like a thick white Alfredo type sauce in it. Very yummy.
I put a pic of mine, the second one on there for you! : D

lots of people here eat them. though I've never tasted one. I'm not much for frozen foods. But for convenience sake, I suppose they are good. Especially if you don't have time to shop and cook

I figured that you guys would have something similar.

They are pretty good Frannie, and worth the money. you get 2 sandwiches per box, and the box is ually 2.00- 2.50 each. and they are pretty tasty!!!!

(there are a few i dont like)

but its great for night audit snacks! : D

Arg, frustration over here at the moment
I notified the photographers I work with I'm in exams at the moment, so I'm not able to go shoot concerts and other things... But I just received an email with them being all pushy and they seemed to forget I'm in exams at the moment

I replied back though, to everyone, that I'm not able to go.

thanks guys

yes it does help if you can see or hold something that weights as much - lots of people would use cubes of lard/butter as comparison but anything helps - our consultant has "lump of fat" - it's big wobbly piece of plastic "blob" that weighs 2 pounds and it's always there on table for people to touch and hold to help put it in prospective.

I'm starting to feel much better about myself and I guess that's what I will need now that I'm back on market - better self confidence

I've been thinking it was that too!

Sweeties, I have to go, lunch-time & study-time!
I'll try to keep you posted about the blood test results (let's hope for some good news!)

Reminder (gosh): don't forget to take a look at BG quiz in the competitions section lol, you still have time until (approx) the end of January and you are allowed to collaborate (copy/paste, discuss with someone else, maybe even ask me for clues) 8)

See you all later!
(and if I'm not around pretty much this week, it's because of the exams coming up in the end of this week)
