hannahbananaa 0 Posted March 11, 2010 This is the true and sad story of Little Red Surfing Hood and the Phishy WolfOnce upon a time (let me guess... last week?) there was a sweet little girl. Everyone who saw her liked her, but most of all her grandmother, who did not know what to give the child next. Once the grandma gave her a laptop and allowed her to have a Facebook account. Granny told her each and every day not to talk with strange people and Little Red Cap promised to obey her grandmother. But there weren’t any strangers! They all were “friends”!The girl loved to play Pet Society all day long on grandma’s laptop! One beautiful day when she was visiting her 548 best friends, she got an invitation to a fan club named ***Cash Coins for everyone - without paying nothing***. (Of course it was a “friend” who invited her – they were all friends, you know, really!) So she joined the club, where she was linked to website named cashcoinhack.joinandiwillrobyou.com. And when she entered this site, it was the first time she met the Phishy Wolf! She did not know what a wicked animal he was, and she was not afraid of him."Good day to you …what is your name? Answer here:__________."And the girl typed “Little Red Hood”."Where are you going so early, Little Red Hood?"“I want to enter this site to get lots of Cash Coins.”“Oh, fine! But first tell me your email and choose a password.”Little Red Hood was so exited upon the tons of Cash Coins she expected, that she gave her real existing email address - and just wanted to type the password she always used on Facebook - but in the last moment she remembered Grannies and the Majors words: “Never share your password with anyone!” and quickly she added some numbers. The Phishy Wolf said:“I might believe that you are Little Red Hood, but to be sure that you are a human being and not a nasty robot, you have to answer some questions, just like a quiz, so don’t worry - we have to be careful, you know.”He sounded a little bit like her Grandma, so Little Red Surfing Hood had no suspicion:“Oh fine, let’s play!”And then the wolf asked for her hometown, for her school, for the name of her best friend, the name of her first pet, the birth name of her Grandma, her favourite colour…"Oh, wolf, how curious you are!""All the better to know you.""Oh, wolf, what a huge amount of questions you have!""All the better to see what you need.""Oh, wolf, why do you ask all these security questions – same as my mail provider?""All the better to grab you with!"But although Little Red Hood had more and more a bad feeling she went on and on telling all the details of her life. Finally – after half an hour – she got the access to the fabulous Cash-Coin-Site and … it was a fake!Oh how disappointed she was! This was bad - but it came worse! Meanwhile some friends (from real life) told her via email, that her PS pet’s house was completely empty: there were only some trophies, some wallpapers and the floors…Immediately she went back to Facebook - but what was this?!“The password you entered is incorrect. Please try again. “She tried to enter again!“Incorrect Password! Facebook passwords are case sensitive. You may can also request a password reset.”She clicked the link – no answer via email. She wrote to Facebook Help Center – no answer. She wrote to Playfish – she got a robotic answer. And finally Little Red Surfing Hood came here to the Playfish Forum and cried and moaned and weeped:“Been hacked! Help me please!!”But nobody could ever help her to get back her account, her pet or her Pet Society items she lost by carelessness. But the wolf… (just to give the story a Fairy Tale Ending)… the wolf and his hacking friends sent some trojans and viruses to Little Red Hoods laptop, and if they found the number of her grandmothers credit card they lived happily ever after!by : nope! Falcor 0 Posted March 12, 2010 ok everybody i want to do a testimony related with this post.hopefully i read this before it happened. I was just doing the daily routine, visiting friends in PS, chatting in the PSFC Forums and making safe trades, when I ran into this thread and posted some advice about making safe friends list and hiding your email address, (earlier discussed with Tiddly Winks on FB) just about the same time I was completing a trade for 20cc with a new member. That member and I became facebook friends and starting chatting while he was making the payment and i was buying the playfish cash. After the trade was completed, we continued chatting about PS. He seemed like a nice guy, then at the end of the conversation, he posted a link for a webcam chat in oovoo.com or something like that.... I was't quite sure, i mean, i don't even know that guy to webchat with him. But anyhow i clicked on the link and sent me to a strange page with nothing on it except a sharing link. Then a smaller window popped up with a warning saying that some kind of device was trying to access to my computer, accept or cancel.....i have just read about the Little Red Ridding Hood Story and heard about a lot of hacked accounts on facebook, so obviously I cancelled the access. Then, just to keep my account safe I opened a new email on gmail (because I heard that it is one of the safest server) and changed my email address on the FB account. That's why I was asking how to receive mails form PSFC on the new email address earlier on this thread. I changed everything, email, and password, even the one on my old email address. A few hours later I went to sleep, and just got home from work. i didn't enter my computer at all since yesterday. I often keep my browser open with my FB and email account opened. And every time I reconnect to the internet I just have to refresh my browser and automatically my accounts are updated. But this time something different happened, on my email I was asked to sign in again entering my password (that was odd coz anytime before today i didn't have to that, just refreshing my browser it would work) and a new warning appeared saying that i was asked to sign in again because the same account was open on a different computer. And there is no way that could've happened with me knowing about it.I checked on my FB account and everything was like I left it, all of my PS items where there and my acc Info was right. Fortunately nothing awful happened. But it was quite strange that it occurred to me after reading this thread and clicking on that strange link.I just want to say that I'm not accusing anyone of trying to hack my account, I only included that link information because it was the only different thing i made from every each time before ( i don't know if that makes sense to you)please use this to keep you accounts safe, because there are a lot of wolves out there and it is well known that neither facebook nor playfish cares.only we can keep our accounts safe if we take the appropriate measures.
