MOT and your number plat

Took 03 vfr for MOT yesterday and its only failure was the number plate, its original number plate but was a failure as lettering was too small and the plate was fastened on via black bolts , some of which made contact with the lettering, have had to have a new plate made and refitted with yellow bolts same as background of plate. Took her back for re test where another biker was told same ref his plate, so seems they are tightening up ref this, so beware when you take your bikes for MOT , Alan

Damn Honda electrics

Hi think might have sorted problem guy`s. one of the wires to fuse holder had a short (2inch) length of wire from a connector(why it was there have no idea, other wire went straight to fuse holder),found this short length of wire plus connector was so hot as you couldn`t touch it, so have cut both wires back to fresh wire and connected a new fuse holder, now , even after a good run both wires are ok to the touch. Touch wood hoping this has sorted it, thanks for replies Alan. Am in Boston Jack m8 -

Hi guy`s, over the cold winter months my 30 amp main fuse blew, everything was damp with condensation so thought that could have been cause, dried and sprayed seemed to have solved it. Was out at weekend and bike stalled on me, but re-started immediately so thought I had just been in wrong gear but on arriving home could smell something was hot. On removing seat found same fuse had blown but had also melted the fuse holder but she would still start and run ok. Cleaned holder up and fitted a new fuse and have been out for a good run again this morning and bike ran ok, hate leccy problems, any ideas ??? Alan

VFR 800 vtech starting problem
poleman1 replied to poleman1's topic in Advice on Repairing and maintaining your bike
Hi, have sorted starting from hot problem on VFR 800 v tech, removed neutral switch this morning and thinking maybe wear, refitted with a much thinner washer and hey presto all is ok now. Will even re start when engine fan has cut in. Before would only start if hot by pulling clutch in, but now all works perfect and neutral stays on , Thanks for all replies, Alan -

Hi my vtech starts perfectly when its cold, but as it gets hotter and I stop to park up, notice the neutral light starts to flicker till will eventually go out.Engine can still be running in neutral and on stands but if you switch engine off it will not re start unless you pull in the clutch then starts ok. Would seem that when its hot , neutral switch is telling ecu that engine is in gear and stops it from being started and pulling in clutch overrides it.Have checked that fan cut`s in at correct temp as per manual, from talking to other`s vfr riders they do run hot, but all seems to be within correct perimeters, any ideas please, Alan
