'Moped cars' for 16-year-olds are coming to the UK
maveric replied to XS1100's topic in The Pub "Tinker and Budget"
We have had them in Sweden for probably 8 years and they go under the same rules as in UK. Even one guy that works as a janitor at my company has one (he's not the sharpest knife in the box)and he have used it for 8 years (he's 28 now). It's a possibility for people that not have a chance to get a real car licence (but they have to do a licence test but lighter than the car one) to travel in the closest neighbourhood to them. As they are not allowed on motorways and they keep the pace in town's i think it's ok as fa as i know . Cheers Maveric -

Done the mot today i Get trough with flying colors . And i get the MOT man standing with a big grin after he did the testride . He said that he dont belive that a acra system and a pc3 shoud make all that difference (1550cc kit ported head webcams bigger injetionbodies and some more ). I just said to him i dont now i just bought it . This is how it looks now but i'm going to change the color to Blue/white (got all the stock parts). Cheers Maveric -

Yes Tony it's Maggys old one . I now they have 1620 kit advaible down under ,and as you say alot more work to get it in place (machining the top engineblock to house the bigger cyl.sleves). The 1550 goes strait down you only have to mod the headgasket. But one thing is on the to do list regarding the 1550 kit and thats the pistongs coz they are a little heavyer so you got a small vibration due to that. so i'm going to get the pistongs out and weight compare them with the stock ones maybe getting them lighter ,hopefully that solves the vibration issue. But the tourqe as you say Tony busa is no match in the begining of a race but later when the busa pickup speed . going to MOT it tomorrow as it stands ,can be a little intresting LOL. home now after a really proper road trip done almost 2000miles this weekend at van.com with me lads just to get my winter hack home . And the bike is a GSX1400 K5, from the beginning. then the previus owner a friend of mine managed to get his hands on a cylinder row that is 1550cc (only 2 of them made) .and he also got a ported head ,webcams, extended injection house, acra full system and a lot of more extra goddies 154hp/154nm . So i got little more than a half bike of stock parts . And one pic with all the bikes there Cheers Maveric -
Callling any electrician in UK with a little question.
maveric replied to maveric's topic in The Pub "Tinker and Budget"
if the cable to the motors (3phase)only has 3 conductors and your having to use the armour as an earth conductor it must only be used as a secondary earth and it must be solidly bonded to earth through the glands at both ends, additionally you must provide a dedicated cpc (circuit protection conductor) of sufficient size to carry any fault current that may appear on it externally to the swa and bonded at the motor and the supply end. we have quite strict regulations in the uk, 17th edition IEE regulations and they publish a hand book to help sparkies interpret the regs, so I would recommend you research our regs on earthing, we use PME over here which basically means all metalwork must be permanently bonded to earth and we have to test earth loop impedance and test r1+r2 resistance on cpc's to ensure low resistance First of all thanks for all awnsers have certanly cleared up some issues . In Sweden you always have to connect a cable with a separate wire for earth + armour if you have a cable with armour. As for loop impedance we do that too. But as cooler company where very unsure and i know the Swedish ruels but not the UK ones i thought it was best to check with fellow sparkies in UK . Cheers Maveric -

Some of you now that i work as a elektrician in Sweden . And most of my time i'm are at a company that makes cooler elements for the industries and bigger office, .AIA and they are sending a cooler to UK. I now that the ruels are not exactly the same as in Sweden, So my question is that we are connecting the fan motors with cabel and glands from UK. But in Sweden we got a separate wire in the cable for the earth, but this cabel only have a armour that regarding the manual chrimps in the gland not a separate connection to the motors chassi. so how do you do in UK regarding the earth connection on the motor . PS. its a farly big Motor infact 10 of them DS. Cheers Maveric with a spark

only 3 days to wait before we hit the roads up north 938 miles one way , going to be a great roadtrip with me lads . Dave you will probably not guess the model of bike but it's a Suzuki and a one off regarding the engine tuning , not as a B-king but fast enough for me (154hp/154mn on the rear wheel) . So i'm going to collect 1 1/2 bike with all the stock parts to . And Sweban dont tell yet . Actually there is two more on this forum that have seen the bike . Cheers Maveric -
any washing machine repair people out there
maveric replied to jezza's topic in The Pub "Tinker and Budget"
i've checked that , I can insert my fingers in and rotate the impeller , if i set the washing machine to drain the water in the drum will drain/pump away. the problem seems to be the drum motor not kicking into action so i'm going to change the brushes and see what happens . Ok mate i think i miss understood that you not got the water out . But as you describe it i think it's most certanly the brushes that's worn out, when you disconnect them check the collector (the surface on the spinning part of the motor) so you dont have any burnmarks on it and that all segments is in the same hight if you now what i mean . This is a wery common problem on washing machines with brushes ,often starts with it not spinns fast and sometimes you can hear a electrical sparkeling noise . if you have a fine sandpaper you can gently give the collector a better surface and the blow it clean with air. I can say as mutch as this it's not a B-King sorry dave . And for sure not a Snowmobile even as those ar fun as f*ck to ride. The place i going to collect it from is more of a snowmobile place than a bike one coz it's only around 50miles from the artic circle . Here in the south of Sweden there are almost non to zero snow mobiles due to the lack of snow in an normal vinter, so you can ride bike fairly long time during the year . Will put some pic's here when i got it maybe a calendar pic . Cheers Maveric -
Have got and bouth me a 3'th bike to have as a winter hack . Now i only have to wait to the last weekend of sep. to pic it up (only 1000miles one way ). Going by van coz it's 1 1/2 bike to collect ,but it's fully funktion so me and my lads have borrowed the big company van for propper Road Trip . Not going to say witch type of bike it is going to be a surprise , but it's fast enough LOL. So join me on a beer mate's . Cheers Maveric
