  1. I use the bike for a daily commute to work. So there is plenty of water on the road this time of there year. I am having a problem starting the bike in the past couple of days. I turn the ignition. The FI fires up correctly. There is a red light on but no error codes. Pull the clutch lever in and the start button and nothing happens. But if I hold the start button in for about 3 seconds, the lights go out and it starts then everything is ok. Today while slowing down for traffic, it just cut out. The first time the bike has done that. Is there a problem I should think of fixing?
I was having a problem with the gear indicator (GI atre) but I reset and oiled the gear shift lever and it is ok now. Should I stop hosing down the bike for a while?

  2. My rear brake pedal is sticking so much so the tail light remains fully illuminated. Is this a problem with a gunky brake cylinder needing a strip and clean? When I put the bike on the centre stand the wheel is spinning ok so the pads are not gettnig stuck. Any ideas on how i can locate the rear brake switch (suzuli dl 650/ sv 650) and what it looks like?

  3. I have never stopped in inverness but there are plenty of people that have pointed me there. It is a great place that offers all the excitement of glassgow and that other edin...br... (can't spell it) with out the expense and hassle of the said cities.I liked Fort William. You will enjoy the approach as it straddles the length of the Great loch, and fair b and b prices. Don't forget, plenty of pictures for us.

  4. I can only suggest wilderness-esque routes. I have been up there a couple of times.

first one: I actually came from arbroath where I had a couple of smokies. Followed this route to the Strachan mountains. The view at the top is to die for then headed for elgin

second route: You are not making any progress on this one as you are making one big circuit. There are some B and Bs in tongue. Some are open all year round. If I may plug a b and b here, the Bothy. It is run by a german woman (silke) who will first invite you into her kitchen for a brew. I turned up at night in the middle of winter after a long days drive and she spent an hour ringing round to find me a place as she was fully booked while I was sat in her warm kitchen. It is a bike friendly B and B. There is also the Graccon further on with bedroom views overlooking the sea.

third route:  This is the long way round back home. Branch off at Garve. It is an awkward diversion so slow down with plenty of time. Very lovely road with long bends and it is fairly quiet.

fourth route: I love this road. It is a mix of thick forests, wilderness, quiet villages and fast A roads. Great on a bike and not bad in a car.

If you go back end of september you might miss out on the midges.
