I usually help out for the most part when I browse friend pages and see posts on the feed. -
I don't know if you figured it out already or not, but cats and dogs require bowls that you buy from the store under accessories > food bowls. The store icon is on the lower left hand corner. All other pets just require you to click the little food can icon and then the little arrow above the hungry pets. If you see no icon above the head, the pet is not hungry.
