Peter1 0 Posted August 19, 2010 For the same years, those made in Malaysia are OK and the blisters are as clear as new.

sinclair 0 Posted August 19, 2010 Peter wrote:For the same years, those made in Malaysia are OK and the blisters are as clear as new. Probably Mattel was experimenting with cheaper/different chemicals to make the blister and they didn't test for color properties when exposed to sun/due to age. netmatrix 0 Posted August 19, 2010 Its water. More accurately humidity. I collect comics too. And in regular boxes they attract water. When water is in contact with paper they turn yellow to brown with age. If there are brown and black spots, then its fungus. I think you have seen many times how newspaper soaked with water and left to dry slowly in room temp for a few days would turn the paper yellow. Its the same. Its the same with books. If you keep in plastic containers, include a pack of thirsty hippo.I remember i said something about this last year. Its serious matter for Mint In Card collectors. If card is not grey downgrade level and price.
Peter1 0 Posted August 19, 2010 It was not humidity and sunlight bec the cars were stored side by side in a cupboard. It is the blisters which are chemically different. If you have the 2002 Morris Mini and if it was made in China, I am sure the blister had turned brownish.
wildspirit 0 Posted August 19, 2010 Are you a smoker keep your car inside the room. Cigarette smoke can easily turns all blister to yellow and other factor like direct sunlight even strong odor. If car we keep it tightly inside the box and still turns yellow than maybe blister chemical mixture is wrong somewhere. Keep carded car hangin to the wall for long period like 1 year plus also can turns all carded car to yellow as moisture and light is big enemy to blister. Never smoking with your carded car around. My E.D and IT G.M room is so affected with cigarette smoke as they are trouble smokers. All fabric furniture, wall paper, curtain even air cond blower unit turning yellow! I have to change curtain and sofa fabric every two years due to cigarette smoke. netmatrix 0 Posted August 19, 2010 U are talking about the plastic blister is it? I thought u said card. If its the blister its even more easy to know why. The chemical u are talking about is UV inhibiting agent. They are expensive. So if they cut cost they don't use it. I have relative working on chemicals.
