I really wish I had someone near me to teach me this stuff. I hate not having a garage and knowing what I'm doing on the bike.
Well done, you obviously know what your doing..unlike me..

Theres been a debate on another site close to the hearts of quite a few members on here.

Brown seems to have caused quite a debate.
You could go all 70's retro, lol! beige frame and wheels and Brown bodywork Sadparty

to be honest Rose the easy bit is taking it apart, its when it all has to go back together you struggle because everything has been painted / polished and you dont want to mark anything.

did consider brown but dont they say you cant polish a turd?

trying to make it as light as possible when i drop the engine out.
2 exhaust gaskets are stuck in there (only been in there 2 months)

Well did some more work on stripping er down.
took the front wheel , forks and yokes out. and undid all the rear suspension bolts so they are loose.
warning to those that are thinking about it, rear suspension bolts are done up bloody tight, 3ft 1/2 " bar and they only just went.
on another hand front sprocket nut could be undone by hand! Shocked
which is not good considering !
have a problem in that ive removed the top steering bearing cup but cant get to the bottom one as there is no lip to knock it out with.
hmm bit more thinking involved with that one.

Mark.

oh and think i have a small crack in my frame. great huh

have to wait and see what santa brings.
lots of work to be done in the mean time , polishing fork legs, yokes etc.
didnt realise how bad the swingarm was, really needs painting.
rocker cover needs blasting and painting too, bit of alloy corosion on there must be the thin suzuki paint.
oh will be fitting new gsxr shock and dog bones too.
Mark.

mini update time!

finished the tank off stripping old red paint off and sprayed it, just needs damage repairing and rubbing down for paint.

took the rear wheel out the swingarm and took the rear disc off so i can paint the wheel.
need some new rear disc bolts as mine are knackered.

swingarm needs de-greasing and painting.

drained the old oil out the forks and dismantled one for polishing.
took all the cast marks out of it and took all the paint off.

stainless bolts for carbs came today so fitted them.

thats about it folks!

well update time again,

dismantled the other fork and nitromoored the bugger to get rid of old paint.
both legs then need rubbing down and polishing so its gonna take some time...........

de-greased the swingarm and rubbed it down, has some spots of rust so will blast them 2morrow.
then needs primer and paint. think i will get me mate to spray it as its easier.

took the tyres off me wheels and dropped them off round my mates bodyshop.
he is gonna sandblast the centres where the old paint is and spray them with 2k gold think he said he was gonna undercoat them in yellow or summat, oh then 3 coats of laquer so should come back nice and shiny by the end of the week. Very Happy
when they come back just gotta fit the new bearings and tyres obvoiusly

braided hoses turned up.

ordered me rose jointed torque arm that should also be here by the end of the week.

bidding on a gsxr rear shock but might not win lol

thats all for now folks! thumbs

Well bit of an update.

won me gsxr shock on ebay so will collect that soon.
then i need some dogbones making up to the correct length.

new torque arm turned up so thats good.

my mate sandblasted my swingarm and primed it in his booth.
(just gotta decide on a colour.)

he also brought round the front wheel he has sprayed,
he is not happy with the rear so will redo it.
just gotta fit new bearings into it

i painted and laquered the front calipers.
just waiting for stainless nipples and banjo's
then gotta buy some new pads

taking the frame , tank , and mudguards/ seat plastics round for paint next week.

this is the colour its going to be.

what do we think so far?

engine has only done 9300 miles so hopefully when im finished will be like a brand new bandit!
not looking to modify too much just want a nice bike.
got a viper seat to go on but im a bit of a perfectionist so will recover it.

Mark.
